Fast food is supposed to come with a side of fries, not pharmaceuticals, but that’s exactly what one Alabama woman claims she got during her lunch break. Skylin Hope (@skylinhope12) says she found a literal pill lodged inside her cheeseburger from Jack’s Family Restaurant in Anniston, and TikTok is absolutely not okay with it.
In a now-viral video that’s racked up over 2.1 million views, Hope shares her bizarre and unsettling experience at an Alabama burger joint. The TikTok opens with her zooming in on her burger, peeled open in its wrapper. Nestled between the meat and cheese is a large red pill. Yep, a full-blown capsule just sitting there like it belongs.
“Uh, there’s a pill in my food,” she says as she approaches the counter to confront the staff. The reaction? Let’s just say it didn’t scream crisis mode.
Alabama Woman Finds Pill In her Fast Food Burger
A worker actually asks her, “Did you buy it from here?” as if she might’ve brought her own DIY medicated burger to the restaurant. Another staffer takes a quick look and casually identifies the pill as an Excedrin, and even offers her a refund. “Do you want me to refund it?” they ask. Hope’s answer is “Absolutely.”
In the caption of her video, she sums up the whole reaction as basically “oh, that’s just an Excedrin,” and adds, “Quite frankly, I don’t care if it was a tick tac, this should never ever ever have happened.” Honestly? She’s got a point.
Hope says she only noticed the pill because she opened the burger to remove the pickles. “I would’ve like ate that if I wouldn’t have opened it up,” she says in the video. Can you imagine taking a bite and feeling a pill crunch under your teeth? We’re talking nightmare fuel.
Fans React To Shocking Video
The internet isn’t taking this lightly. The comments are filled with people urging her to take action. “Call corporate, file a health department complaint, contact local police department,” one user wrote. Others pointed out the possible danger of ingesting medication unknowingly.
“What if she was pregnant or on medication that cannot be mixed with Excedrin? Why are they acting like it’s no big deal?” one comment asked.
“I said extra onion not excedrin,” another joked.
“That is scary! But, the way she said ‘It’s an Excedrin’ so nonchalantly would’ve made me mad. You handled that well,” a third person wrote.
Honestly, this whole situation raises serious questions. Even if it was just an over-the-counter headache med, how does something like that end up in a cheeseburger? Is someone at the grill popping pills mid-shift and dropping them in the patties? It sounds wild, but based on the manager’s nonchalant reaction, you have to wonder how seriously they’re taking cross-contamination and food safety.
For the record, the Jack’s location in question is on Quintard Avenue in Anniston, Alabama. Hope’s final message on TikTok is clear. “Figured I’d let my peeps know to check your burger from Jack’s on Quintard. You never know.” One thing’s for sure, after this viral video, a lot more people will be double-checking their fast food before the first bite.
