Sometimes, the universe gives you no choice. For one pregnant New Jersey woman, that moment came on a desperate road trip through upstate New York, when her bladder made the final call. The woman shared her story line, and it definitely has people talking and judging after she revealed she relieved herself right outside a liquor store. The twist? She’s three months pregnant and feeling all the hormonal havoc that comes with it.
Her TMI Reddit post begins with a frantic situation many can relate to. “My bladder was about to burst,” she says. She was on the road, nowhere near a rest stop, and had limited options. The only place to pull over was a local liquor store. Wanting to be polite, she popped inside and grabbed a Gatorade, then asked the clerk if she could use their bathroom. However, he flat-out refused to let her use the restroom.
At this point, anyone who’s ever dealt with pregnancy can probably feel her pain. She’d done her best. But when nature calls and you’re expecting, it’s not always a question of convenience. It’s a demand.
With zero alternatives, she did what she had to do. “I just squatted and peed right outside the door of the store while wearing a dress,” she admitted, before adding that the clerk came outside “screaming at me to stop” and ended up calling the police.
Pregnant New Jersey Woman Relieves Herself Outside Liquor Store After Being Denied Bathroom Use
The post goes from panicked to painfully apologetic. “I just didn’t want the judgment of being in a liquor store while I was pregnant if that makes sense,” she wrote. It does. No one wants side-eyes for buying a Gatorade next to shelves of vodka while visibly expecting, even if she’s clearly not drinking. Still, that hesitation may have cost her a cleaner solution.
“I just hate myself for doing it and I feel like a disgusting person for doing it,” she confessed, showing just how rattled and ashamed she was by the whole thing. It’s one of those real-life moments that feels equal parts humiliating and ridiculous.
So what’s her next move? She turned to the online forum with the big question: “So… what are the chances that anything comes of this?”
Legal Consequences?
“Have you been arrested? Have you been contacted by the police? If not, I wouldn’t worry about it. If the cops want to talk to you, don’t. Tell them you don’t speak to police without you lawyer present and then zip it,” one person advised.
“Cops aren’t coming after you. It’s not worth their time,” said another.
“I highly doubt anything will come from this, I’m in NJ too and can’t see any of the cops here doing anything about it,” a third person wrote.
“Nothing is gonna happen,” a fourth comment read.
Moms (and pregnant women) are judged for everything. Breastfeeding, bottle feeding, screen time, snack choices, and yes, even needing to pee. But is a public urination citation really warranted when you’re growing a whole human inside you?
Peeing outside a liquor store definitely earns some side-eye, but there’s a level of empathy here, too. Anyone who’s been pregnant or traveled with a toddler who suddenly has to go now understands the urgency.
Hopefully for this New Jersey mom-to-be, the whole thing ends with a warning and a story to laugh about years from now. If nothing else, she’s reminded the internet that pregnancy is not for the weak, and sometimes, dignity has to take a backseat to biology.
