Politics might be divisive these days, but for one Wisconsin mother, things went way too far when politics unexpectedly reached her eight-year-old son in the form of a disturbing piece of jewelry. Katie Neubauer says she was completely shocked after her child was handed a bracelet that appeared to call for President Donald Trump’s death while visiting the Oshkosh Farmers Market earlier this month.
According to Neubauer, the bracelet was allegedly distributed by volunteers at the Winnebago County Democratic Party booth, featuring the phrase “Is he dead yet?” Horrified, the MAGA mom says she immediately took it away from her son. “I hand it back to him and I said, ‘We don’t wear hate speech here,’” she told The Faulkner Focus. “I had to walk away because I was seething.”
When Neubauer later returned to the booth, she said she noticed even more anti-Trump bracelets on display, including one that read “8647.” The numbers, she explained, combine “86,” slang for “get rid of” or “kill,” with “47,” referencing Trump’s current stint as 47th president.
Wisconsin MAGA Mother Fumes After Son Receives Donald Trump Death Bracelet
Neubauer didn’t just brush it off; she took her complaint straight to the farmers’ market management. To her surprise, she wasn’t alone. The manager confirmed that roughly ten other people had filed similar complaints that day. Soon after, the Winnebago County Democratic Party and market officials reportedly agreed the group would not return for the rest of the season.
While the booth’s volunteers haven’t publicly commented on the situation, the backlash has sparked a much larger conversation in Wisconsin and beyond about how deeply political hostility has seeped into everyday life. Farmers’ markets are supposed to be family-friendly spaces, where people grab fresh produce and chat with local vendors, not where children are forced to see political messages.
The controversy also comes amid rising concern about political violence across the country. Even Trump himself has spoken out about the need to tone down the rhetoric, saying, “We’ve watched legions of far-left radicals resort to desperate acts of violence and terror because they know that their ideas and arguments are persuading no one.” His comments followed a ceremony honoring conservative activist Charlie Kirk, who was posthumously awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom after being tragically killed on a Utah college campus in September.
The Public Is Unsurprisingly Divided
Of course, the internet was divided about the incident, just like they are on most things political. “Farmer’s markets are such wonderful, enjoyable places. Would a politic-free zone be so bad?” one person commented. “It’s a political statement protected by free speech. Neither side can cast the first stone on this topic,” another stated. “Giving Republicans a taste of their own medicine and watch them cry over the same chat,” a third person wrote. “So the red team cares about kids? Why haven’t they released the Epstein files then?” a fourth comment read.
In the current climate, incidents like this in Wisconsin highlight just how fragile the political divide has become and how important it is to keep kids out of the crossfire.
