Halloween is usually about ghosts, goblins, and plenty of fake cobwebs. However, one New Jersey resident decided to take spooky season in a much more controversial direction, and now, his front yard is the talk of the town and the internet.
The man, identified only as Joe, has decorated his yard with an eyebrow-raising mix of political and cultural imagery that’s got neighbors fuming. Forget the inflatable pumpkins. Joe’s lawn features skeletal ICE agents, a mannequin version of Kristi Noem, and a bizarre “Alligator Alcatraz” display complete with imprisoned “Mexican” mannequins. Not exactly your standard neighborhood haunted house.
The whole thing came to light thanks to TikTok user Kelly Ann B, who shared a video of the display while driving by Joe’s property. “He wanted to get attention. Let’s give it all to him,” she captioned the video. In the clip, she can be heard confronting the homeowner, asking, “Are you a cop?” before calling the display “literally psycho.” Her reaction quickly gained traction, with viewers equally divided some agreeing that the decorations were offensive, while others defended Joe’s right to express himself however he wants.
New Jersey Man Goes Full MAGA With Controversial Halloween Decorations
Another neighbor described the display as “distasteful,” saying it crosses the line from scary fun into something more sinister. And judging by the number of people calling to complain, she’s definitely not alone in that opinion.
Still, Joe seems totally unfazed by the controversy brewing around his New Jersey home. In a statement to News12, he said, “Unfortunately, I have to worry about what people are trying to do to us now. We’re having fun with it, and if people don’t like it, oh well… They’ve been trying to take it down. I got people calling every day trying to take our stuff down.”
To protect his setup, Joe’s reportedly installed cameras all around his property to make sure no one tampers with his displays. Whether you think he’s exercising his right to free speech or just stirring up trouble, one thing’s clear: this isn’t your average Halloween yard.
The Internet Was Completely Divided
Joe’s decorations have sparked a debate that goes far beyond skeletons and pumpkins. Halloween has always been a time to push boundaries and get creative, but for some, Joe’s version of fun feels like a step too far.
“This extreme MAGA display is the scariest thing I’ve seen all October,” one person commented. “But libs are the radicals?” asked another. “This is not okay,” a third person wrote. Although, others praised the man’s decor. “Freedom of speech,” one commenter stated. “He can do whatever he wants at his house,” another chimed in.
As October rolls on, the only thing scarier than his skeletons might be the neighborhood tension rising around them. Whether you see it as performance art or poor taste, one thing’s for sure: no one in Jackson, New Jersey, is forgetting Joe’s Halloween display anytime soon.
