The morning talk show queen went off-script, aiming for none other than New York’s kids, and her no-nonsense tirade left fans both shocked and amused.
The outburst started innocently enough, but things took a turn when Kelly Ripa began venting about the new generation of New York kids, specifically, Manhattan. Her frustration bubbled over as she expressed how kids today seem to have endless opinions and demands, especially at Halloween.

They are switching into multiple costumes on air before heading home to play the role of festive candy distributors. But this year, before the spooky season even hit, Kelly couldn’t resist airing a major complaint about the trick-or-treaters heading their way.
During a recent episode, Mark pointed out how fast candy disappears on Halloween night, and Kelly didn’t miss a beat. She revealed that their household burns through “cases and cases” of sweets every year, enough to make even the most dedicated sugar lover cringe.
The Candy-Giver’s Universal Struggle
But she didn’t hold back when it came to calling out Manhattan kids, accusing them of being a little too picky about their candy choices. She explained, “We give good candy. Full-size candy. You think they’d take the win and say, ‘Thank you.’ But, they go, ‘I don’t like Hershey’s, can I get a Snickers bar? I want Skittles.’”
Kelly said she’s fed up with kids complaining, so this year she’s decided to do something a little different. “I’m getting opaque bags and putting the candy in the bags, and you get what you get. Bye-bye. See you later.”
She also complained that the kids don’t even say “thank you.” However, Kelly Ripa feels that the moms are to blame for their ungrateful kids. “Don’t have time to negotiate with you since your mom is over there drinking wine out of her sippy cup,” she vented.
Many longtime candy-givers agreed with Kelly Ripa. However, say it’s not just New York kids acting entitled, it’s a nationwide epidemic of sass. And with the price of candy this year, who can blame adults for getting salty? When you’re dropping half a paycheck on candy. The least you expect is a polite “thank you,” not side-eye over the lack of Reese’s.
