What should have been an ordinary shower turned into a frightening medical ordeal for one Texas family, and now they are demanding answers after their teenage daughter allegedly ended up in the hospital with severe skin injuries.
According to her parents, a 16-year-old girl from Trinidad, Texas suffered painful burns and irritation across much of her body after bathing at home. The family believes the city’s water supply may be responsible, and they aren’t staying quiet about it.
The controversy began when the teen reportedly developed a painful reaction following a shower on May 28. Her mother, Misty Logan, later took to social media to describe the ordeal, claiming doctors connected her daughter’s injuries to something in the water.
Texas Teen Suffers Chemical Burns In Shower
“On May 28, 2026, my child was chemically burned from head to toe from Trinidad’s water! We have doctors saying it is from the water!” Misty wrote. According to the family, the situation became increasingly alarming as the teenager’s condition worsened. Instead of finding relief, additional showers reportedly made the irritation even more severe, per PEOPLE.
For Misty, watching her daughter suffer was devastating. “My daughter suffered for days, her whole body was burning for days!” she wrote. The mother explained that she waited several days before publicly discussing the situation because her attention was focused entirely on helping her daughter recover.
In interviews with local media, both parents said concerns about the local water system are nothing new. They claim they have experienced issues for years while living in Trinidad. “We’ve always had a problem with this water since we’ve lived here,” Misty said. “It’s always been discolored, smells.”
The family initially struggled to determine what was causing the reaction. However, they eventually became convinced the water was playing a role after each attempt to wash away the discomfort appeared to make things worse.
“Only thing we came to a conclusion on is each time you got in that water to try to relieve yourself it only made it worse,” Misty explained. Medical records reportedly obtained by local media stated that the teen’s condition was “most likely chemical burn/severe dermatitis from water she was exposed to.” Her parents say doctors ultimately concluded that something in the water was the likely source of the problem.
Her Parents Are Furious
The situation has drawn even more attention because the City of Trinidad had previously informed residents that it would temporarily switch its water treatment process. According to reports, the city announced that it would convert from chloramine to free chlorine between April 27 and May 30. Residents were advised they could notice differences in the taste and smell of their water during that period.
The family’s attorney later shared preliminary test strip results online that allegedly suggested elevated chlorine levels in the household’s water. However, questions remain about whether those results directly explain what happened to the teenager.
For the parents, the bigger issue is public safety. “This is not a laughing matter,” David Logan said. His wife echoed those concerns while calling for accountability and improved oversight. “Everyone in the city needs to be able to turn their faucet on and be able to drink the water with no hesitation,” she said.
As discussions continue, many residents are now paying closer attention to questions surrounding water quality and public notification procedures. While investigations and reviews may ultimately determine exactly what happened, one Texas family says the experience has already changed their lives forever.
For now, they say their primary focus remains on their daughter’s recovery and making sure no other Texas family has to go through the same frightening ordeal.
