It looks like Prince Harry may be questioning his post-royal life with Meghan Markle in sunny California, and for good reason. According to insiders, the exiled Duke is reportedly feeling a wave of regret as tensions and chaos rise just outside his doorstep in the Golden State. Between violent “No Kings” rallies, disturbing scenes of cars on fire, store lootings, and rising public safety concerns, Harry is said to be rattled and worried for his family’s safety.
While the rest of the royal family was back in the U.K., smiling and waving during the Trooping the Colour parade in London (a grand tradition honoring King Charles), Prince Harry was hunkered down at his Montecito mansion, watching his adopted state descend into disorder. And it’s hitting him hard, per Radar Online.
“Harry’s starting to wonder if he made a huge mistake moving to California,” a source told New Idea. “Seeing the rest of the royals looking so happy, juxtaposed with what was going on a short drive away from his home, shook him. When you have a young family over here, it’s easy to see why he’s having regrets.”
Prince Harry Regretting Life in California With Meghan Markle?
Yikes. It sounds like Harry’s dream of a peaceful, private life in California is starting to feel more like a miscalculation, especially with the couple’s two children, Archie and Lilibet, now front and center.
Ironically, while Prince Harry was grappling with these fears, Meghan Markle posted a sweet Father’s Day video tribute featuring never-before-seen clips of Harry and their kids, including, for the first time, clear views of Archie and Lilibet’s faces. On any other weekend, it might have felt like a heartfelt, intimate reveal. But this particular Father’s Day fell on what’s now being described as one of the most violent weekends in recent memory, requiring intervention from the U.S. Marines.
“He can’t believe the post went up on the most violent of weekends in recent history — and one that required the US Marines to intervene to show Archie and Lilibet’s faces online for the first time,” a source revealed. “It was a Father’s Day gift from Meghan, but he’s stunned she put the family at risk by doing the filming. He knows she means well, but her timing couldn’t be worse.”
That tension is nothing new for the couple, who stepped down from royal duties in 2020 and left behind the U.K. and its publicly funded royal security. Since then, Harry has been locked in a legal battle over his right to receive the same protection he once had as a working royal. He even argued that his U.S.-based security team doesn’t have access to the U.K. intelligence needed to keep his family safe across the pond.
What Will Harry and Meghan Do Next?
His legal team said, “The U.K. will always be Prince Harry’s home and a country he wants his wife and children to be safe in. With the lack of police protection comes too great a personal risk.”
Unfortunately, Harry lost that legal battle in May 2025, and it hit him hard. During an emotional BBC interview, he confessed: “I can’t see a world in which I would bring my wife and children back to the U.K. at this point.”
It’s a heartbreaking reality for Harry, who seems torn between two worlds — neither of which feels entirely safe or stable right now.
So, what’s next for Prince Harry? Rumors are swirling that he may be looking to leave Los Angeles altogether in search of more privacy and protection. Whether that means a move back to the U.K. or someplace entirely new remains to be seen.
