Josh Duhamel revealed that his Minnesota “doomsday cabin” is about 70 percent complete. While it’s livable now. Duhamel admits he still has a few finishing touches to add before it’s fully ready for any scenario. He’s busy stocking up on food to brushing up on hunting and fishing skills. As well as taking every precaution to ensure he and his family could weather an unexpected crisis.

“I could be a better hunter, I could be a better fisherman. I could stockpile a little more food supply,” Duhamel confessed. He states that this is about more than luxury. It’s about self-sufficiency. Duhamel’s move from Los Angeles to the Minnesota woods was inspired by a desire to reconnect with life’s basics.

Modern Comforts Meet Off-Grid Living

He described it as a “calling” to get back to hands-on work. Fixing, building, and appreciating the simple things often overlooked in modern life. “I’m really more of a guy who wants to stay true to my roots. Get back to the basics, hone whatever basic skills I need … to provide for my family,” he shared.

Even in the middle of the woods, Duhamel hasn’t completely abandoned modern amenities. His cabin now has electricity, running water, a custom water filtration system, and even a Starlink internet connection. But for him, the real reward lies in slowing down. Making memories, and enjoying family and friends without constant city distractions according to Page Six.

Duhamel calls himself a “doomsday prepper,” but the reality is more grounded than it sounds. His cabin is a mix of comfort and readiness. A safe haven for his wife, Audra Mari and two sons, Axl, 12, and Shepherd, 1.

Handsome man who lost his way. What on Earth is he doing and with her?” one fan questions.

This guy is a smart dude as that is such a wise thing to invest his money in.” adds another.

First rule of doomsday prepping is keep your yap shut. And your location a total secret,” warns one more.

Duhamel’s Minnesota cabin isn’t just a getaway. It’s a statement. Between chopping wood, perfecting his survival skills, and adding the finishing touches. He’s creating a space where family comes first, and modern chaos stays out. It’s a mix of comfort and caution, a retreat built not for show but for peace of mind. Whether the apocalypse hits or not, one thing’s clear. Duhamel has found a way to slow down, embrace the basics, and savor the kind of quiet moments Hollywood rarely offers.
