What started as a bizarre neighborhood dispute in Ohio quickly turned into a viral controversy that ended with a city official resigning after being caught on camera using racist language toward her Black neighbor. And honestly, the footage is hard to watch.

The incident reportedly happened in Mentor, Ohio, where Kathy Miller, a 70-year-old member of the city’s Board of Building and Zoning Appeals and former Trump campaign organizer, was filmed confronting a neighbor over yard markers placed outside his home. But instead of a normal disagreement between neighbors, the situation spiraled into something far uglier, per Atlanta Black Star.

In the now-viral clip, Miller can allegedly be seen storming across the man’s yard while pulling stakes from the ground. Dressed casually in what viewers described as slippers and pajamas, she appeared visibly furious from the start. Then came the moment that sent social media into outrage mode.

Nasty Ohio MAGA Woman Screams Racial Slur At Neighbor

According to the video, Miller screamed, “You can go f— yourself,” she says before using the N-word and turning and walking away from the property. The man filming the interaction didn’t stay silent. As Miller headed back toward her home, he responded, “Mentor police are going to love this. You know that, right? You’re in their files.”

That seemed to immediately change the tone. Once it became clear the encounter had been recorded, Miller reportedly turned around and demanded the man delete the video. Obviously, that didn’t happen. Instead, the Ohio footage spread rapidly online, eventually reaching city officials and local media outlets.

Not long afterward, Miller resigned from her volunteer role with the city. In a statement shared with local station WKYC3, the City of Mentor publicly condemned her behavior, calling it “indefensible.” The city also clarified that while her role was volunteer-based, her comments absolutely did not reflect the values of the community.

The statement read in part: “Her behavior does not reflect the values of our community and is indefensible under any and all circumstances.” And while some online initially assumed Miller held an unpaid honorary role, public records reportedly showed she received compensation for attending meetings. According to WKYC3’s investigation, Miller collected 31 payments totaling $1,550 during her time serving on the board.

As the controversy exploded online, older comments and interviews involving Miller also resurfaced. Many people pointed to previous remarks she allegedly made about race over the years, with some neighbors claiming the viral confrontation wasn’t exactly out of character.

This Is Awful

One resurfaced interview from 2016 especially caught attention online. In that clip, Miller blamed racism in America on former President Barack Obama, saying, “I don’t think there was racism until Obama got elected.” She also made controversial comments about Black families and dismissed the Black Lives Matter movement as “a stupid waste of time.”

The situation also reopened conversations about race-related controversies tied to the city of Mentor itself. Some commenters referenced a separate 2024 incident involving a former city councilman who also used a racist slur during a parking lot altercation.

“The audacity to say delete it after her disgusting actions and hate speech,” one person commented online. “They are so angry. Why?” said another. “She been wanting call him that since he moved in!!” a third person chimed in. “The perfect stereotype for a MAGA woman,” a fourth comment read.

And in typical internet fashion, the entire Ohio situation has now become another example of how quickly one recorded moment can completely upend someone’s public image. What may have started as an argument over yard markers ended with a viral scandal, a resignation, and a fresh wave of public scrutiny over racism, accountability, and how people behave when they think nobody’s watching.
