One Ohio man is living through a true neighbor nightmare. He says what started as minor tension over property lines has spiraled into something far more disturbing. According to a recent Reddit post, the man claims a neighboring property owner installed a trail camera that appears to be aimed directly at a window inside his home specifically, a laundry room where he and his girlfriend change clothes.
The Reddit user shared photos of the brown trail camera positioned outside and another image showing the camera’s visible line of sight into the house before later deleting the post, per WGTC.
And here’s where things take a turn. “This wouldn’t normally be an issue, save for the fact that it’s aimed into the laundry room,” he wrote, explaining that it’s a space where he and his girlfriend frequently change. That alone would make most people uneasy. But he added something even more unsettling: “The owner of that property has admitted to taking pictures of ‘all over my house.’”
Ohio Man Says Creepy Neighbor Is Causing Major Problems
According to the post, the neighboring homeowner is currently renovating their property. The only prior interaction between the two men had reportedly been about property lines and trees. During that exchange, the neighbor allegedly said he “has taken pictures all over my property for a while” and warned that the homeowner would “need to talk to his legal team.”
That statement alone would raise eyebrows. But paired with a camera pointed toward a room used for changing clothes? It’s understandable why this Ohio resident says he’s rattled. “Knowing that he’s already been taking pictures of my house is a little crazy. Then this camera,” he wrote.
Sadly, that’s not the only issue he claims to be dealing with. The homeowner says there have been late-night disturbances, including someone allegedly “coming in my yard/banging on the house at night/breaking into the crawl space.” He admitted he’s suspected it might be some sort of intimidation tactic, writing, “I’ve assumed it’s been a ploy to make me list the house for sale because no one’s ever actually broken into the inside of the home.”
Sleep, understandably, has been hard to come by. “I’ve not slept in what feels like weeks because of all this,” he shared, noting that construction on the neighboring property begins bright and early at 6 a.m.
The Internet Weighs In
Reddit, of course, had opinions and plenty of them. While a few commenters suggested the nighttime noises could be animals, others were far more direct. One user responded, “Someone keeps banging on your house at night and breaking into the crawl space? Have you not called the police? You need a camera yourself…” They also urged him to document everything and file a non-emergency report about the trail camera, especially given the neighbor’s alleged admission about photographing the property.
“I’d file a non-emergency report about this trail camera as well as the fact that they literally keep telling you they are taking pictures ‘all over your house.’ This person is not mentally well and you should start building a paper trail,” said another.
Under Ohio law, voyeurism statutes generally address unlawful recording when someone has a legitimate expectation of privacy, and the interior of a home, particularly a room used for changing clothes, almost always qualifies.
As of now, it’s unclear whether law enforcement has been contacted or whether the camera is still in place. Now that the post has been deleted, netizens are just hoping that the Ohio man and his girlfriend are safe and taking care of the matter.
