At first, it seemed like another missing person investigation in New Jersey. When 48-year-old Harold Miller Jr. vanished after a night with friends in Camden on June 12, his family hoped for answers. Just two days later, his car was found abandoned, raising fears that something far more sinister had happened.
Those fears were confirmed when prosecutors pointed to 41-year-old Everton Thomas. Authorities allege he killed Miller inside his Camden residence. But adding an even more disturbing twist to the plot, he turned to his own wife, Sherrie Parker, and son, Deshawn Thomas, to help cover up the crime. What followed was a shocking family affair involving surveillance video, suspicious purchases, and grisly disposal trips across New Jersey.

“Amazing the ignorance that people have when they know there are cameras everywhere. They are on every freaking corner, ” one commenter adds.
“OMG how awful, but please quit fleeing to Canada guys, we have our own l u n a t i cs over here,” another writes.
“This should be an interesting outcome for the wife and son because it doesn’t sound like they were willing participants.“
Detectives say Miller was last seen entering Everton’s home. A gunshot was heard on camera, but Miller was never spotted leaving. Soon after, Everton was allegedly caught moving Miller’s car. As the missing person case intensified, investigators tracked Sherrie and Deshawn buying a chainsaw, containers, and cleaning supplies. The very tools prosecutors say were used to dispose of Miller’s remains, according to People.
Witnesses also reported disturbing signs inside the New Jersey home. Loud music, restricted access to the basement, and an overpowering odor that lingered for days. A police search turned up bloodstains and a loaded firearm, pushing the investigation into overdrive.
A Chilling New Jersey Trial Ahead
Instead of facing questions, Everton fled the state altogether, crossing into Canada as suspicions closed in. His run didn’t last long. On September 8, he was arrested at the U.S.-Canada border while returning to New York on a commercial bus.
Days earlier, he had officially been charged with murder, desecration of human remains, and tampering with evidence. Sherrie and Deshawn were arrested the same day and are currently held in the Camden County Correctional Facility.

Now, all three face the possibility of decades behind bars. For residents of Camden and beyond, the case is a grim reminder of how quickly an ordinary family home can become the scene of unimaginable violence.
This isn’t just another headline. It’s a horrifying example of how far evil can reach, even inside a household. A father accused of murder, a wife and son allegedly roped into a nightmare, and a community left reeling. As the courts prepare to sort through the evidence. But New Jersey won’t soon forget this chainsaw horror story.
