A Florida woman pulled off a wild stunt that not many can say they’ve been able to achieve. It happened in Marion County when a 32-year-old woman named Rheanna Harden was arrested and cuffed after a traffic stop. Upon being placed into the back of a police cruiser, she pulled out a gun that she had concealed on herself and opened fire in the car.
According to 12News, Harden flipped the script in a move that would likely be seen on a drama series or in a thriller novel. While handcuffed, the Florida woman managed to pull a gun out of her waistband and shoot all while in the back of the patrol car. Now, the police are being called out for missing the weapon before driving off with Harden in the back.
According to the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, it all started on Monday morning around 10 a.m. when Rheanna Harden was pulled over and arrested after a traffic stop. She was slapped with multiple charges, including possession of meth, marijuana, and drug paraphernalia, along with giving false ID and knowingly driving with a suspended license.
Deputies say Harden was searched and cuffed before being placed in the back seat of a patrol car. But somehow, she still managed to retrieve a concealed firearm, all while her hands were cuffed. She then opened fire at a deputy’s head.
Florida Woman Opens Fire In Back Of Patrol Car
Of course, the incident caused chaos in the car, and the vehicle reportedly slammed into a nearby utility pole. The deputy exited the vehicle, returned fire, and sought cover. Harden was hit in the shoulder and hip, while the deputy sustained a graze wound near his right eye.
Of course, the internet had a lot of questions. Like how did a firearm go undetected during the search? And how in the world does someone manipulate a weapon while handcuffed behind their back? Either way, it doesn’t look great for the Florida police.
The Internet Has Questions
“Lazy police not doing their job properly if they let her get that far into the process with a gun on her. That’s ridiculous,” one person wrote.
“How did they arrest her, cuff her, and put her in the patrol car without noticing a gun in her waistband? another said.
“Florida cops aren’t trained properly,” a third person wrote.
“Probably ‘searched’ by a male deputy, so they can’t check everywhere or lawsuits start. Usually, they call in a female deputy to search, but so they aren’t available. So basically the threat of being sued by a female that got searched by a male cop almost got this cop shot dead,” a fourth person speculated.
Harden, who already had a lengthy rap sheet, now faces a whole new round of serious charges. As of now, she’s being held in the Marion County Jail without bond.
This wild incident adds another headline to Florida’s long list of unbelievable crime stories. But more importantly, it highlights the very real dangers law enforcement officers face, even after someone is in custody.
