Unfortunately, the internet is filled with videos of women being harassed by men just about anywhere and for just about anything. Now, with that being said, this recently posted TikTok video is no different. The clip has around 830 likes and 35.7K views as this Illinois woman confronts a roughly dressed man for allegedly harassing her throughout the store they were in together. Social media users were quick to take her side as the video continued to reach more viewers.
The TikTok video starts off with the woman standing in the check-out line as the Illinois man stands behind her. “Record me, do it,” he can be heard telling her as he looks very uncomfortable. Sadly, the clip begins with little to no context. However, the video’s caption clears things up pretty quickly. “We were looking at stuffed animals, and he came up behind me first and was hovering behind me, then grabbing stuff that was directly in front of me, no excuse me, no nothing, and I even scooted over a few times, but he kept getting closer.” It then goes on to explain that the man was allegedly following her around the store, trying to talk to her after she had asked him to back away.
TikTok Chooses Sides Amid Illinois Store Altercation
The TikTok comment section had a lot to say regarding this, as many would rush to leave behind their own thoughts and opinions about the encounter. “I swear this world we live in is so paranoid,” wrote one. Another said, “Weird video. This could go either way, depending on what exactly transpired off-camera. Either way seems like it could’ve been handled differently.” Finally, one last person’s comment also read, “I would be bothered too. I’m on your side.” It would seem as though some people need a little more context before making their decision.
As the TikTok video continues, the Illinois man and woman go back and forth for a few moments before a man standing in line decides to join in. He can be heard making fun of the angry man’s outfit, telling him to “Get out of the store dressed like that.” He would also go on to tell him “You don’t deserve to be in public.“
Sadly, the TikTok video would come to an end following the second man jumping into the action. At the end of the day, personal space is very important, especially if you don’t know the person. Hopefully, this Illinois man has learned a lot from this encounter and will be better going forward.
