Saint Patrick’s Day in Chicago, Illinois, is a very big event; even the weekend before the actual holiday is filled with countless partygoers just looking to have a good time. However, with that being said, there are still laws in effect that those same people have to follow. This recently posted TikTok video seemingly shows what happens when some people don’t follow those rules. The clip has around 26K likes and 443.4K views as this Illinois police officer dumps out numerous alcoholic drinks that he confiscated.
The TikTok video begins with the police officer setting up shop outside of a bar in the city of Chicago, Illinois. Although beside the officer is a large amount of one-gallon jugs. Yet, it was what was inside of those jugs that was causing the officer to take them away from the partiers. Inside, the containers were filled with alcoholic beverages, one gallon’s worth for each to be exact. Nevertheless, most states in the U.S. have a firm container law, meaning nobody can just be walking around getting drunk in the streets. As the officer goes to take more jugs from unsuspecting pedestrians, he can be heard saying, “I got two,” as he carries them to a drain to dump them out.
TikTok Reacts To The Illinois Fun Police
The TikTok comment section had a lot to say regarding this whole ordeal. Many would rush to the video in order to leave behind their own thoughts and opinions about the officer’s decisions. “They’re really cracking down this year; last year they didn’t care,” pointed out one. Another wrote, “Why wouldn’t you just put your drink in a Gatorade bottle or McDonald’s cup? I truly do not understand this trend.” One more comment also read, “A lot of these students are also under the age of 21, so they have no choice but to confiscate all of them.“
As the TikTok video continues, the Illinois Police officer goes about his work with a smile on his face. It would seem as though he does get at least a little bit of joy from taking these jugs of alcohol away from these partiers. However, the number of jugs will most likely triple before the night is over, as many people take Saint Patrick’s Day very seriously.
At the end of the day, the law is the law, and if you break it, there will be consequences. In this case, they get their drink taken away from them and dumped down a drain on the side of the Chicago street. This Illinois police officer was just doing his job, and the amount of “Boos” he received was surely anticipated.
