Texas Woman Has TikTok In A Chokehold After Being ‘Locked’ Inside Abandoned Dollar Store: ‘Worst Nightmare’

Texas woman says she was locked inside Dollar General

You’ve probably heard of people getting stuck in elevators or accidentally locked out of their cars, but a Texas woman just took “oops” moments to a whole new level. While shopping at her local Dollar General, this Lone Star State shopper claims found herself in a situation straight out of a sitcom, locked inside the store after closing, with no employees or customers in sight. Of course, in true 2025 fashion, she did what anyone would do: she pulled out her phone and started recording a TikTok.

According to the now-viral clip, which has racked up over 2 million views, her evening started out as any other errand run in Texas. She was browsing the aisles, minding her own business, when nature called. She headed to the restroom, but while she was in there, the entire store went dark thanks to a sudden power outage. By the time she emerged, the Dollar General was completely deserted. Lights off. No cashiers. No customers. Of course, the doors were locked tight, or were they?

From there, her misadventure just got weirder. The TikTok takes viewers on a mini tour of the abandoned store, and it’s about as creepy as it sounds. Every aisle is shrouded in darkness, the shelves eerily still, and the quiet? Absolutely unsettling. She tried the front door, but it was no use. To make matters worse, her cell service was down because a Verizon outage had hit her town, leaving her with no way to call or text for help. “You live there now,” one amused commenter joked, summing up the internet’s reaction in just five words.

But instead of panicking, our accidental overnight guest leaned all the way into the absurdity of the moment. She called out for help (knowing full well nobody was around), theorized about why the security alarm wasn’t blaring, likely because of the outage, and even started organizing the store shelves to kill time. There’s something oddly relatable about deciding, “Well, if I’m stuck, I might as well straighten up the home goods section.”

At one point, she panned her phone to show the completely empty store, declaring there wasn’t “a single soul” in sight. Between that and the pitch-black aisles, the whole thing feels like a mash-up of The Walking Dead and Supermarket Sweep. By the end of the video, she was perched by the self-checkout with her purse, looking like she had fully accepted her fate. “Alright, looks like I’m spending the night,” she quipped before the clip cut out.

TikTok Had Thoughts

Of course, TikTok went wild for the video. Some thought it was hilarious. Others revealed that it was a “dream” to get locked in somewhere like that, telling her to hit the snack aisle and get comfy. However, others claimed it was their “worst nightmare” to be stuck in a store with no way out.

After the video went viral, the Texas woman returned to TikTok days later to reveal that it was all a joke. She says that she made the video in hopes of making her friends laugh, and that she actually works at the Dollar General store. While some of her followers were already suspicious of this, others called her out for seeking viral views. It looks like we still can’t trust anything on the internet.
