According to Blanco, his instincts immediately kicked in, pushing him into defense mode before he even had time to process the situation clearly.
Speaking during an episode of his Friends Keep Secrets podcast, Blanco explained that he suddenly woke up after hearing unusual noises inside the house. Convinced an intruder had somehow made their way inside, he carefully moved through the home while trying to prepare for the worst.

So instead of calling for help immediately, Blanco admitted he grabbed a knife from the kitchen after fear got the best of him. He described quietly creeping through the house. He says he next positioned himself behind furniture, waiting to confront whoever he believed was inside.
“I tiptoed to the kitchen and got a knife,” he admitted, explaining that he crouched behind furniture, “preparing to attack” if the supposed burglar appeared.
The producer painted a tense picture of the moment, saying adrenaline had fully taken over. At the time, he had no reason to believe the person making noise was anyone familiar. The story, however, took an unexpected twist.
As it turns out, the person Blanco feared was an intruder was actually one of his own friends staying nearby. Even more surprising, the friend had also heard mysterious sounds and reached the exact same conclusion. He also believed somebody dangerous had entered the home.
Home Defense Plan Takes a Wild Turn
In an almost unbelievable misunderstanding, both men reportedly armed themselves with knives and quietly moved through the house, each convinced they were protecting themselves from an unknown threat.
Blanco admitted the misunderstanding came dangerously close to ending badly. He revealed that he had mentally prepared himself to react if someone suddenly appeared in front of him. Thankfully, before anything irreversible happened, the two finally came face-to-face and realized the truth. Instead of a violent confrontation, the tense moment ended with relief after both recognized one another in time.
Why He Avoids Guns
During the conversation, guest comedian and rapper Lil Dicky asked why Blanco did not reach for a gun instead. Blanco responded with humor. He explained he avoids firearms because he believes he would probably hurt himself by accident before protecting anyone else.
