If Prince Andrew was hoping for a royal comeback, he might want to think again — especially if his nephew Prince William has anything to say about it. According to multiple royal experts, the future king has zero intention of giving his scandal-plagued uncle a second chance once he ascends the throne. It looks like he’s got it out for more than just Prince Harry.
Royal expert Hilary Fordwich didn’t mince words when speaking to Fox News Digital. She revealed that Prince William has a plan for how to deal with his problematic uncle, and it doesn’t include bringing him back into the royal family fold.
“Prince William has long had a strained and distant relationship with Andrew,” she explained, adding that the Prince of Wales holds “a grudge against his disgraced uncle.” She went so far as to say William wants Andrew to “vanish from public view.”
William, 41, has allegedly been a driving force behind keeping the Duke of York out of the royal spotlight ever since Andrew’s disastrous BBC interview in 2019, the one where he tried to explain away his friendship with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
Prince William Wants Prince Andrew Out Of The Royal Family Fold
Instead of damage control, the interview lit a media firestorm and sent Andrew’s reputation into free fall. The fallout was swift and brutal. His late mother, Queen Elizabeth II, stripped him of his royal duties and charity roles. Now, even King Charles III is trying to nudge Andrew out of his 30-room Royal Lodge and into a more modest Windsor cottage.
“William has been a strong voice in managing ‘the Andrew problem,’” royal correspondent Jennie Bond told Closer Weekly. “He is adamant that there is no way back for his uncle.”
It’s not just about scandal either. It’s about the monarchy’s future. Royal insiders say William is laser-focused on modernizing the institution and keeping it relevant and that doesn’t include headlines about Epstein or shady overseas connections.
British broadcaster Helena Chard echoed that sentiment, telling Fox News, “He [William] views him as a complete liability with his series of scandals, both past and present, shoveling shame on the family. His stance towards his uncle is tough. He will not entertain anyone toxic to the brand.”
Andrew, now 65, once enjoyed a prominent role within the royal family. He served in the Royal Navy for 22 years and even acted as Britain’s special representative for trade and investment. But his ties to Epstein, the disastrous interview, and a string of eyebrow-raising associations, including the son of Libyan dictator Moammar Gadhafi, turned him into a royal pariah.
And William, the future face of the monarchy, isn’t about to let that slide. Royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams summed it up: “Andrew has been an embarrassment for years and represents the worst, most entitled aspect of royalty.”
The late Queen may have handled things quietly, and King Charles seems to tread gently with his brother, but Prince William seems to have a clear plan — keep Prince Andrew as far away from the royal spotlight as possible.
