You know something is going to feel off when a paranormal investigator opens her post with a line like, “I bought a dead woman’s Ouija board.” That’s exactly how one woman’s story begins. The deceased woman died ten years ago and was from Oregon. And it only gets more unsettling from there.

It’s the kind of unsettling that lingers in your mind long after you’ve stopped scrolling. At first glance, it sounds like another eerie internet tale, the kind designed to grab attention. But as more details surface, the situation shifts from curious to genuinely disturbing.

TikTok creator Beckie Ann Galentine, also known to her followers as My Bloody Galentine isn’t new to the paranormal. She identifies herself as a paranormal investigator. Recently, she shared a video about a purchase she made on eBay. An antique Ouija board with a backstory she admits she didn’t fully understand at the time.

Paranormal Investigator Makes Chilling Discovery That Begins in Oregon

The box itself wasn’t ordinary. In fact, it appeared to be the original shipping box, addressed to a Mrs. Kenneth Brake of Portland, Oregon, sent decades ago from someone in New York. Though the sender’s identity remains unknown. Scrawled directly onto the box was a chilling question: “Who sent this to me?” Even the date written alongside it has sparked debate. Some viewers swear it reads January 7, 1970, while others insist it’s actually 1976. Either way, it suggests confusion that began the moment the package first arrived.

Things only grew stranger when Galentine opened the box. Inside was a Mystic Genie Ouija board, copyright 1965, that looked almost untouched. The planchette, sealed separately in a bag, featured an unusual design with a genie lamp emblem, adding an extra layer of oddity. Tucked in with the board was a catalog from Zolar Publishing, a New York-based company dating back to 1932, filled with occult items. Some of those items had been highlighted as if someone had once planned to order them.

But the most unsettling detail wasn’t the board itself. It was the handwriting. On teh outside of the catalog, a message had been written: “This is not my original board. Someone replaced mine with this planchette and all.”

Handwritten Warnings That Raise Questions

If this wasn’t Mrs. Brake’s original board, then where did hers go? The mystery deepens further with another message found on the back of the board. It suggests she had been living in Portland, Oregon, for over four years when this unexpected package arrived.

Galentine’s followers are hooked, and divided. Some are urging her to leave the board alone, warning that nothing good comes from tampering with objects tied to unknown histories. Others are encouraging her to go further. Galentine herself hinted that the only way to truly understand might be to ask the board. A suggestion that didn’t sit well with everyone watching.

“This is terrifying. Why are you not scared at all? I’m scared for you. This is how horror movies start,” one concerned commenter writes.

Do not open that Ouija board!!!! You’ll be sorry!!! another warns.

“You have to find out who stole Mrs. Brake’s board?” one more adds.

Ouija boards have carried a reputation for over a century as tools for communicating with spirits. Originally marketed as harmless parlor games in the late 1800s, they quickly became associated with the supernatural. Stories of unexplained movements, eerie messages, and supposed spirit contact have fueled both fascination and fear.

Should Some Mysteries Stay Unsolved?

And that’s where this story leaves us. Somewhere in that uneasy middle. Because maybe this is just an old board with a strange paper trail. Or maybe it’s something else entirely. Either way, one question keeps resurfacing. When you start digging into the unknown, are you uncovering answers… or inviting something in?

Objects like this have a way of pulling people in, daring them to search for meaning where there may be none. Or where there may be too much. However, it’s worth asking yourself how far you’d be willing to go for answers. Because when it comes to the unknown, curiosity doesn’t always come without consequences, and sometimes, it’s safer not to ask at all.
