An Oklahoma man recently gave a 911 operator a nightmare day on the job. In a disturbing and downright surreal situation, a 41-year-old man named Erick Nimsey was arrested after he allegedly stabbed his own father and forced a 911 dispatcher to play a sick game of “choose the body part” mid-attack.
It all unfolded in Del City, just outside Oklahoma City, where Nimsey himself called 911 from an apartment complex. But instead of asking for help, he allegedly taunted the dispatcher in real time as he attacked his 63-year-old father, Eddie Davis (per News 9).
During the call, Nimsey reportedly asked the stunned dispatcher, “You want left or right foot? Which one do you want, dispatcher? Whoever you are?” It wasn’t a prank or a threat. It was happening live, and the dispatcher could reportedly hear Davis screaming in the background.
Not only was Nimsey allegedly assaulting his father, but he was also trying to rope the 911 operator into his twisted act. “Say left or right, and this will be on you,” he said, warning the dispatcher that if she didn’t respond in three seconds, he’d assume she chose “left.”
Oklahoma Man Asks 911 Operator To Choose Where He Stabbed His Father
The dispatcher, clearly shaken, could only respond, “What is happening?”
According to KWTV, a local CBS affiliate, she managed to keep Nimsey talking for six full minutes, a crucial move that gave officers time to arrive at the scene. But when they got there, Nimsey refused to open the door, telling dispatch, “If you want it open, you can kick it in.” So, they did.
Once inside, police found Davis in the kitchen, covered in blood and suffering from life-threatening injuries. Nimsey was located in a nearby room, already on his knees with his hands behind his back, making no attempt to flee or resist.
As if the situation couldn’t get any more bizarre, Nimsey reportedly went on a delusional rant after his arrest. According to police, he claimed to be 120 years old, said officers were plotting to kill his mother, and threatened to stab them. He also added that he could get “lions and tigers” to do the job for him. At one point, he even asked officers, “Do you believe in mercy?”
It’s hard to say what’s more disturbing—the violent act itself or the chilling level of calm and manipulation Nimsey reportedly displayed while committing it.
Erick Nimsey Is Currently Behind Bars Awaiting Charges
He’s now facing serious charges, including domestic assault and battery with a deadly weapon and domestic assault and battery resulting in great bodily harm. He’s being held in the Oklahoma County Detention Center on a $25,000 bond.
As for Davis, he was rushed to the hospital and is being treated for his injuries. No update has been given on his condition yet, but one can only hope he pulls through after what sounds like a completely traumatic ordeal.
This Oklahoma case is a grim reminder of the unpredictable and sometimes horrifying nature of domestic violence and a testament to the dispatcher’s composure in the face of a nightmare call.
