A wedding celebration in Boardman, Ohio, meant to be all about love, laughter, and a lifetime of memories quickly spiraled into chaos over the weekend and not in the fun way. Around 10 p.m. on Saturday night, law enforcement from across Mahoning County were called to Aqua Pazzo after reports of a full-blown brawl erupted during what was supposed to be a joyous event.

According to police reports, roughly 20 intoxicated attendees got into a shouting match outside the restaurant, which quickly escalated as people began “circling up” near the main entrance, ready to throw punches. One officer deployed pepper spray to keep the crowd from escalating even further, per Fox 8.

Things got physical when Alexander Holmes reportedly refused to leave the property. Holmes allegedly grabbed an officer’s wrist and even another officer’s vest while attempting to move further inside the restaurant. Officers had no choice but to escort him outside, take him to the ground, and handcuff him. As if this weren’t enough drama, other family members approached the scene angrily, though no further violence was reported at that moment.

By this time, the crowd of wedding guests had grown even more irate, with about 40-50 people leaving the restaurant but visibly upset. Police called for backup from surrounding departments, including Beaver, Canfield, Poland, Austintown, and Springfield, along with Mill Creek MetroParks Police and the Mahoning County Sheriff’s Office. The scene was turning into a full-scale law enforcement operation.

The chaos continued when Speros Theofilos reportedly approached officers aggressively and even punched one in the neck. He resisted arrest so forcefully that an officer had to deploy a stun gun before Theofilos could be handcuffed. Meanwhile, a third man was arrested after allegedly assaulting another guest during the melee. Emergency services, including ambulances and the fire department, were on hand to tend to any injuries, though it’s unclear how serious they were.

As of now, Alexander Holmes is facing felony charges of obstructing official business and resisting arrest, while Speros Theofilos is facing felony charges of assault on a police officer, obstructing official business, and resisting arrest. Both are scheduled for arraignment this coming Tuesday.

Wedding Drama

This incident in Boardman serves as a wild reminder that even wedding events are traditionally reserved for love, cake, and dance-floor shenanigans. While no one was killed or severely injured, the evening definitely went from happily ever after to happening on the evening news.

“White on white crime,” one person commented on Facebook. “Uncivilized heathens,” said another. “We went to a wedding and a hockey game broke out,” a third person joked. “I thought that’s just what we did at family gatherings,” another chimed in.

Hopefully, future Ohio weddings at Aqua Pazzo will keep the champagne in glasses and out of fists, because law enforcement from across the county certainly had their hands full trying to restore order during what should have been a night to remember for all the right reasons.
