Michigan Woman Drops Off Car For Oil Change But Ends Up Humiliated When She Realizes She Made A Huge Bluetooth Mistake: ‘I Would Die’

One Michigan woman just wanted to get her car serviced, maybe scroll her phone for a bit, and go about her day. Instead, she walked away with a story that feels like it belongs in a sitcom, except it actually happened.

TikTok creator Olivia Boblet shared her painfully relatable experience, and honestly, if you’ve ever connected your phone to your car’s Bluetooth, you might want to double-check your settings after hearing this.

It all started innocently enough. Olivia was sitting in the waiting area while her car was getting a routine oil change. Nothing dramatic, nothing unusual. But there was one tiny detail she didn’t think about. Her phone was still connected to the car’s Bluetooth system.

Now, for most people, that wouldn’t be a huge deal. But Olivia explained that her phone has a habit of randomly playing voice memos. And unfortunately for her, that little quirk decided to show up at the absolute worst time.

As the workers pulled her car around, something started playing through the speakers. Not music. Not a podcast. A voice memo. And not just a quick snippet, either it was already “eight minutes deep” by the time anyone noticed.

There’s something uniquely horrifying about realizing strangers are listening to something personal from your phone, especially when you have zero control over it. Olivia didn’t go into detail about what was said in the memo, but honestly, she didn’t need to. The secondhand embarrassment speaks for itself.

Olivia revealed that this wasn’t even her first chaotic experience with the same shop. Months earlier, she had taken her car in for brake repairs, and things went completely sideways. According to her, the workers ended up spilling brake fluid throughout the garage, leaving her car undriveable and needing a tow.

Because the situation was “completely their fault,” the shop promised to make it right by offering her a free oil change in the future. The catch? That promise was written down on a piece of paper she didn’t have anymore.

A Lesson Learned

So fast forward to the present moment. Olivia, already dealing with the Bluetooth nightmare, decided to bring up the free oil change anyway. The employees didn’t remember the situation, which only made things more uncomfortable. But in the end, they gave her the oil change for free.

Instead, Olivia admitted the whole situation left her feeling like a “thief.” Between getting a free service they didn’t recall offering, brushing off the awkwardness, and unknowingly blasting her voice memos to the entire shop, she said the experience truly got to her.

“It takes a lot to embarrass me, but I will say, this trip to the oil change place got me,” she shared. “It did.” Naturally, the internet had thoughts, and a lot of them were very relatable.

One person admitted, “No, because this is one of my fears and why whenever I get work done on my car I disable Bluetooth on my phone.” Another kept it simple and honest: “I would die.” Same energy from a third commenter who wrote, “I would simply cry.” But maybe the most valid question came from someone else entirely: “Why wouldn’t they turn it down at least?!?”

This whole Michigan situation is a reminder to a few people to disconnect their Bluetooth before handing over their keys.
