Indianapolis Police Have Arrested 28-Year-Old After Alleged WNBA Sex Toy Incident: ‘How Are They Smuggling Them In?’

Arrested made for WNBA game disruptors

Okay, we’ve officially entered “what is going on?” territory at WNBA games. Just when you thought the wild saga of sex toy-throwing fans was a one-off shocker, here comes round two, and it’s even worse than the first. A second person has been arrested in connection with the bizarre (and completely inappropriate) incident that went down during the Indiana Fever’s WNBA home game on July 21. Yes, the same game where someone tossed a sex toy onto the court. But apparently, the situation was more chaotic than we initially thought.

According to Yahoo Sports, this time it wasn’t just about the court disruption. A man in the stands told officers that a sex toy hit him in the head, and then bounced off and smacked his 9-year-old niece. That’s not just gross, that’s straight-up reckless.

Indianapolis police have now arrested 28-year-old Grant Hodge as the second suspect involved. He’s been hit with a charge of battery with injury. If you’re wondering how they linked him to the flying object, officials say they reviewed surveillance footage and had interviews with witnesses. No word yet if there was some sort of weird toy-throwing pact going on, but clearly, security wasn’t laughing. This has also left fans confused. “How are they smuggling them in?” asked one via X.

Indianapolis Police Arrested Alleged WNBA Sex Toy Thrower

Here’s the kicker: the first suspect, 25-year-old Henry Reaves, had already been arrested earlier in connection to this same incident. Reaves allegedly admitted to throwing the sex toy onto the court. But now, with this second arrest, it seems like there was more than one person out there playing disturb-the-peace with adult toys in public. Again… at a WNBA game. You can’t make this up.

The victims, especially the 9-year-old girl, are at the center of why this has escalated. Police said the girl’s uncle was hit first, then the toy ricocheted and hit the child. Not only is that disgusting, it’s dangerous. These are people who just came out to enjoy a basketball game, not get caught in some weird, adult-themed prank gone way too far.

Let’s be real: the WNBA has been riding a massive wave of momentum this year. Thanks to names like Caitlin Clark, Angel Reese, and a surge in nationwide attention, arenas are packed and the spotlight is hotter than ever. But with more visibility comes, unfortunately, more foolishness from the crowd.

No Excuse for This Kind of Behavior

Throwing things onto the court is never cool. But throwing that kind of object? At a women’s sporting event? It’s gross, it’s immature, and it’s now gotten two people arrested.

So where does this go from here? Officials haven’t said if there are more arrests coming, but you can bet that stadium security is going to be on high alert moving forward. Meanwhile, social media has been quick to condemn the behavior. Though the police report doesn’t mention specific public reactions, it’s safe to say nobody finds this funny, especially not the victims who were hit.

Moral of the story: keep the toys at home, people. There’s no excuse for endangering fans, let alone traumatizing a child, all for a five-second moment of shock value. The WNBA deserves better. The fans deserve better. And this 9-year-old girl definitely deserved better. Let’s hope this is the last time we have to talk about adult toys flying through the air at a basketball game. Because seriously, what even is 2025?
