When a Florida woman named Andrea Szabo expected a proposal, she thought she had it all figured out. After four years together, her boyfriend Josh had always hinted that year four was the milestone for popping the big question. Instead, she was blindsided when he dumped her abruptly. But that heartbreak was only the beginning of the drama.
Just one week later, Andrea found out Josh was already dating Sarah, a former co-worker and mutual friend also from Florida. The betrayal stung twice as much because Sarah was someone they both knew, and once supported during her own online scandal. In fact, Josh and Andrea had bonded by watching Sarah’s TikTok videos after her husband cheated on her while she was pregnant.
Blindsided and betrayed, Andrea decided it was time to speak her truth. In an explosive TikTok that quickly went viral, with more than 13.6 million views, she finally shared her side of the story.
“If it was that he broke up with me for some ex-coworker, I wouldn’t have felt the need to go to social media,” she explained. “It was because of who it was and the fact that her social media presence was caused by her being cheated on and by her portraying herself as this mother and good person who was wronged, just for her to turn around and do that to another woman.”
The drama only got more intense when Andrea revealed Sarah had publicly said things like, “I don’t wish this kind of pain on anybody.” The hypocrisy stung.
Florida Woman Forced To Deal With Heartbreak and Betrayal Tells Her Story on TikTok
“In her videos, she said, ‘I don’t wish this kind of pain on anybody,’ it really didn’t sit right with me,” Andrea shared.
Despite changing names in her TikTok, viewers were quick to piece things together. Within minutes, comments were calling out Sarah directly. Even with no major following of her own, Andrea’s video lit up TikTok’s fast lane.
Andrea also exposed how Josh and Sarah had worked to keep her in the dark. A friend finally called her to say the truth:
“Two days after that, I got a call from one of my friends, who knows both of them, and she said, ‘Hey, I hate to be the one to tell you this. I tried to give Josh a chance to tell you, but he obviously isn’t and hasn’t. I feel like it’s my responsibility to let you know that they are together now.’”
With Josh and Sarah now silent, Andrea has taken charge of the narrative and her healing. She says that after the shock, she has clarity.
“Honestly, it is a saving grace that he didn’t waste more of my years. Four was enough,” she tells PEOPLE.
“It was a crappy way to find out, but now I know, and if that’s who he is … then he’s not somebody I want in my life.”
And she’s not just processing heartbreak. Andrea is turning it into self-love and forward motion. She offers simple yet powerful advice for anyone facing the same betrayal.
“The first few days were tough,” she admits. “Having him leave and then getting that bombshell dropped on me that not only did he leave, but now he’s also with this person. My advice is to focus on yourself. I’m focusing on myself. So many people have reached out with similar situations. It does get easier, and you can move forward from these situations.”
Andrea’s story is a classic of coming out the other side wiser, stronger, and more authentic. Her advice is simple but vital. Thankfully, it looks like Andrea’s Florida family and friends have rallied around her, as well as the rest of the internet.
