Florida Preacher’s Daughter Played With Ouija Board One Time And It Scarred Her For Life: ‘Don’t Even Want To Look At One’

What began as a typical teenage Florida sleepover took a dark and unforgettable turn. One that still lingers in memory decades later. The woman, now grown and a daughter to a preacher, says she was just 13 years old when curiosity got the better of her and her friends.

Like many spooky stories, it started innocently enough. Five girls gathered for a night of giggles, snacks, and just a hint of mischief. Somewhere along the way, someone suggested trying an Ouija board. They didn’t even have a proper planchette, so they improvised with a small coin. One barely large enough for all of them to rest their fingertips on.

That detail shared on TikTok, she insists, is what makes everything that followed so difficult to explain. At first, nothing happened. The girls laughed nervously, questioning whether the whole thing was just a silly game. But then, without warning, the coin began to slide.

Florida Woman’s Ouija Experience Too Specific to Ignore

They asked simple questions:
“Are you nice?” — Yes.
“Did you die in this town?” — Yes.
“Do you know our names?” — Yes.

The mood shifted. What had been playful curiosity quickly turned into something heavier, more unsettling. Then came the moment none of them could shake. The spirit claimed it could only reveal the first initials of their names. One by one, the coin moved accurately across the board. But when it reached the last girl, it stopped on the letter “E.”

The problem? That girl always went by a nickname starting with “L.” None of them had even been thinking about her real name. Until suddenly, they remembered.

Strange Events

Feeling both terrified and strangely emboldened, the girls pressed further. They asked if they could see the spirit. The answer: No. “Why?” they asked. The coin slowly spelled out a single word. Ugly. When they asked if the spirit looked that way because of how it died, the answer again was yes. It went on to reveal it had been a boy, roughly their age, who had died in a fire in town.

That was enough. The girls ended the session immediately, shaken and unwilling to push any further. But the story didn’t end that night.

About a week later, back in Florida, the woman says she began waking up every morning between 5:00 and 5:30 a.m. to the sound of her smoke detector blaring. Each time, there was no fire. No smoke, no explanation.

It happened again. And again. For two weeks straight. They changed the batteries. Nothing. They removed the batteries entirely. Still, the alarm went off. Eventually, they took the device down completely. The disturbances stopped. But the fear lingered.

A Chilling Connection to 5:30 AM

Three months later, unable to shake the experience, she decided to look into the story herself. What she found made her blood run cold. There had been a fire in her town. A young boy had died. The time it started? Around 5:30 in the morning.

The Ouija board has long been surrounded by mystery and controversy. Originally marketed in the late 1800s as a harmless parlor game, it quickly became associated with spirit communication. Many believe it acts as a doorway between worlds, allowing users to contact unseen entities.

While skeptics argue that movements are caused by subconscious muscle actions, believers warn that the board can invite unknown and potentially dangerous forces. Over time, countless stories, like this one, have added to its ominous reputation.

Now she refuses to go anywhere near a Ouija board. Not out of superstition, she says. But out of certainty. “I don’t even want to look at one,” she admits. Whether you believe in spirits or not, her story serves as a chilling reminder. Some doors, once opened, may not close so easily. It’s a lesson she has learned, one she’s never forgotten, and one she warns others not to learn the hard way.
