Fleetwood Mac’s iconic guitarist Lindsey Buckingham has once again made headlines, but not for music. The 76-year-old rock star experienced a frightening incident this week that has left fans and authorities concerned. While Buckingham has endured his share of public scrutiny over the decades, this latest episode was a personal and alarming confrontation.

The Daily Mail reports that Lindsey Buckingham was in Santa Monica, California on Wednesday, arriving for a routine appointment, when a woman reportedly attacked him. Law enforcement sources say she hurled an unidentified substance at Buckingham as he entered the building before fleeing the scene. Fortunately, the legendary guitarist was not injured. Police from both the Los Angeles and Santa Monica departments are investigating, and an arrest is expected soon.
The suspected assailant appears to be someone Buckingham had previous encounters with, though authorities have not confirmed her identity. Buckingham has faced harassment in the past. Including incidents that led to a permanent restraining order against a 53-year-old named Michelle, who had allegedly stalked him and his family over several years.
Scary Incident and Bizarre History Unfolds in California For Fleetwood Mac’s Lindsey Buckingham
Buckingham’s legal battles with the alleged stalker date back more than a year. The court granted him a permanent restraining order last year. It requires the woman to stay at least 100 yards from him, his wife Kristen, and his adult son William. Buckingham testified that Michelle had repeatedly harassed him.
He claimed she had been making bizarre claims about being his child. She also allegedly left threatening messages and blamed him for past misfortunes in her life. Authorities had previously instructed her to stop contacting the family, though incidents reportedly resurfaced in 2024.
“And people want to be famous. There is always some bad that goes along with good,” one fan writes.
“The terrible price of fame,” another adds.
“What is wrong with people? This world is full of wicked people now,” one more chimes in.
At one point, the Fleetwood Mac member described a frightening false 911 call that led police to his home under the belief that his son might be in danger. Buckingham later traced the call to Michelle’s phone. Citing it as part of a continuing pattern of harassment against him and his loved ones.
Born in California’s Bay Area in 1949. Lindsey Buckingham joined Fleetwood Mac in 1975 and helped recruit Stevie Nicks to the band. His contributions fueled some of the group’s most celebrated works, including the legendary album Rumours.
Buckingham and Nicks’ personal and professional conflicts became the stuff of rock legend, culminating in his temporary departure in 1987 and eventual firing in 2018 after repeated tensions. Despite these challenges, his influence on the band’s sound and legacy remains undeniable.
