One waitress from California recently took to TikTok to share a hilarious story that proves servers really do see it all.
Posting under the username @b.tbo92, the California woman gave followers a behind-the-scenes peek at one of the strangest reservation notes she’s ever received. The video, which racked up over 110,000 views and around 15,000 likes, had TikTok cracking up at the bizarre and slightly creepy dinner request from one overly bold diner.
In the clip, the waitress explains that customers are allowed to leave notes when making reservations. Most people use this space to mention birthdays, anniversaries, or seating preferences. But this man? He decided to take things to a whole new level.
California Waitress Reveals Bizarre Customer Request
His note reportedly asked that a female employee sit with him and his girlfriend during their meal. As if that wasn’t already an eyebrow-raiser, the man also mentioned, “I guess I’m proposing to my girlfriend tonight,” before asking the restaurant to cover the cost of their dinner because of “financial issues.”
Naturally, the staff couldn’t keep a straight face. As the California waitress read the note aloud, laughter erupted in the background. One co-worker even asked, “What do you mean, ‘I guess’?” while another simply repeated, “What is happening right now?” It’s the kind of moment only restaurant workers can appreciate equal parts awkward, confusing, and hysterical.
In a follow-up post, the waitress shared that the man did, in fact, show up for his reservation. Surprisingly, there was no proposal, no request for a free meal, and no awkward invitation for staff to join the couple at their table. He just dined quietly and paid his bill like any other customer.
