Everyone has probably imagined quitting a terrible job in spectacular fashion at least once. Most people never actually go through with it. One Colorado woman, however, decided to turn that fantasy into reality and now the internet can’t stop talking about it.
Monica, who posts online as @monicaen_11, recently shared footage of what may have been one of the most memorable resignations her coworkers will ever witness. Rather than quietly handing in a notice or sending an email, she chose to announce her departure during a staff meeting in front of everyone.
According to the video, Monica gets her Colorado manager’s attention before making a blunt declaration that immediately changes the atmosphere in the room. “Um… Actually, this is gonna be my last staff meeting. I’m quitting. You’re a [expletive].”
Colorado Woman Abruptly Quits In Public Crashout Moment
The reaction is almost as entertaining as the announcement itself. Several people visibly turn around in shock while audible gasps can be heard from those nearby. Her boss, meanwhile, appears unfazed and simply responds, “Okay! Bye, Monica!”
Without another word, Monica casually walks away, exits the mall, steps into the sunshine, and happily proclaims, “I just quit my job!” But according to Monica, there was much more behind the dramatic moment than viewers initially realized.
In a follow-up explanation, she claimed she genuinely enjoyed working her part-time Colorado retail job when she first started. Things allegedly changed after one of the floor leads was promoted to assistant manager.
She described the workplace as increasingly uncomfortable, recalling one incident where she says another employee was taken behind the building and berated until they were left crying. Monica also claimed her own name came up during that confrontation, adding to her growing discomfort.
She Did What Was Best For Her
She suggested there were numerous additional incidents that contributed to her decision, although she hasn’t publicly detailed them all.
As expected, social media quickly split into opposing camps. Some viewers loved the theatrical sendoff and applauded the confidence it took to walk away so publicly. “Everyone needs to quit like this at least once in their life, it’s liberating!” one commenter wrote.
Others weren’t nearly as impressed. “They didn’t care at all,” one person observed after watching the manager’s seemingly calm response. Another joked, “And they moved on like nothing happened.” One critic added, “This is absolutely the flex you think it is.”
Whether people viewed the resignation as empowering or embarrassing, one thing is clear: the Colorado woman’s exit made far more noise online than it apparently did inside the staff meeting itself.
