Faith, family, and a little bit of fate are at the center of a deeply personal story that singer Gwen Stefani recently shared. The longtime pop star, who has spent decades in the spotlight, opened up about how a spiritual shift in her life helped lead to what she considers a miracle pregnancy. And yes, the revelation is getting plenty of attention across California, where Stefani has long been one of the music industry’s most recognizable voices.

During a conversation on the Hallow prayer and meditation app with Catholic evangelist Jeff Cavins, the No Doubt frontwoman reflected on how her relationship with faith evolved over time. The discussion, which touched on everything from her upbringing to motherhood, revealed a side of Stefani that fans don’t always hear about in interviews. Growing up in California in a traditional Italian Catholic family, she explained that religion was always present in her childhood, per PEOPLE.

“I [it] wasn’t the way I feel like I am now where I have all this like knowledge, you know what I mean?” Stefani admitted, explaining that she’s still learning and growing spiritually. In fact, she described herself in a surprisingly humble way. “I call myself a baby Christian because I’m certainly a work in progress.”

Stefani credited her mother for planting the seeds of faith early in life. According to the singer, family traditions like attending catechism classes and saying grace at dinner helped create a spiritual foundation that she’s come to appreciate even more as an adult.

“I think as a child it was such a grounding thing and I think my mom was the one that I think planted the seed of faith in me and she knew I needed that and I was going to need it and she was right,” Stefani shared.

But the conversation took a more emotional turn when Stefani described a difficult period in her life when she desperately wanted another child. At the time, she felt the odds were stacked against her because of her age. “I really wanted to have another baby,” she explained. “I really did. And I couldn’t and I was old.”

According to Stefani, a surprising spiritual influence entered her life around that time. She began working with someone who had his own religious transformation and was studying the Torah. Those discussions sparked something within her.

“We start talking about all these things and like I know all of this stuff like this is just I don’t know. It was waking me up, right?” she said. Then came a moment that truly stuck with her. Her oldest son, Kingston, approached her with a simple wish. “Mommy, I just I really want you to have a baby,” he told her.

The Internet Isn’t Convinced

Stefani remembered gently trying to manage expectations. “I’m sorry, your mommy’s too old to have a baby now,” she said she told him. But Kingston didn’t give up. According to Stefani, he began praying for her every night without being asked.

“He was like ‘Please God let my mom have a baby,’ and I just was just sitting there going wow, look at my little boy he’s praying for me like he was doing it every night and I never asked him to do that,” she recalled. Then something unexpected happened. “I think it was like four weeks later and I was pregnant with Apollo who you know, I had at 44 years old naturally. Totally a full-on gift. And that was the first miracle,” Stefani said.

Many online debated over Stefani’s words, and they were divided by what she had to say. Some praised her faith and willingness to speak out about her beliefs. Meanwhile, others took a different stance. “Or it’s simple biology,” one person stated. “Someone needs to tell her what leads to pregnancy,” another agreed. “She’s really gone off the rails the past 15 years,” a third person declared.

Today, Stefani shares three sons, Kingston, Zuma, and Apollo, with her ex-husband Gavin Rossdale. And while she’s spent years entertaining millions around the world, moments like these show a more reflective side of the singer.
