North Carolina has been the backdrop for plenty of viral moments, but this latest incident at a local park is sparking outrage far beyond the state lines. A Black mom, Judith Baity, says she and her children were simply enjoying a day out when two white women approached her with an unusual and offensive demand: pack up and leave so their dogs could roam freely.
According to Baity, the confrontation happened near Vandora Springs Elementary School in North Carolina, where the women claimed to work. That detail alone added an extra layer of shock, since we’re not just talking about random dog owners here, we’re talking about people who allegedly educate kids in the same community. Baity, who has taken her family to this park for years without a single issue, filmed the incident and later shared it on TikTok. The clip quickly blew up, showing exactly how tense things got when she refused to budge.
The video shows the women insisting that Baity and her kids were “trespassing,” even though they were on the same property as the dogs. Baity pointed out the obvious contradiction: if she was trespassing, so were they and their pets. Still, the women doubled down, saying their employment at Vandora Springs gave them some kind of special right to be there with their dogs. When Baity stood her ground and refused to leave, the two women escalated the situation by calling the police.
North Carolina Mother Has Cops Called On Her For Refusing To Remove Children From Park
Cops were called because the family was using a public space in North Carolina that the two women decided they wanted cleared for their pets. Baity summed it up perfectly in her TikTok video: “If you are a teacher, and you act like that, I would never allow my kids in Vandora Springs Elementary.”
What’s even more frustrating is that when officers arrived, instead of holding the women accountable for letting their dogs off-leash, they told everyone to leave. That left Baity and her children being forced out of a space they had every right to enjoy, while the women who made the call in the first place faced no real consequences.
Naturally, social media didn’t take this lightly. TikTok users flooded Baity’s comments with support, pointing out that the women wasted police time and resources on a petty issue that could have been solved by simply leashing their dogs.
“Calling the cops is crazy,” one person commented. “Why couldn’t they just go to a dog park, that’s what there for. This is a playground for kids not dogs,” another pointed out. “The way they weaponize the police, needs to be studied,” a third person chimed in. “Entitlement card declined,” a fourth comment read.
The Internet Is Furious
The backlash became strong enough that the principal of Vandora Springs Elementary issued an apology to Baity, reassuring the community that families and children are “welcome and valued” on school property. While the apology is important, it doesn’t erase the fact that two women who work around children felt entitled to intimidate a mother and her kids over something so absurd.
This isn’t the first time North Carolina and America in general have seen an incident like this. From the infamous “BBQ Becky” call in California to “Permit Patty” harassing a child selling water, these moments have sadly become part of a larger cultural conversation. They highlight how quickly ordinary situations can spiral when racial bias comes into play.
In the end, what should have been a simple family day outdoors turned into yet another viral case of weaponizing authority. Sadly, this North Carolina family’s day of fun was cut short for no good reason.
