There are big fast-food orders and then there are this might break the system-level orders. And apparently, one Arkansas man unknowingly crossed into that territory during what was supposed to have been a simple McDonald’s breakfast run.
The now hotly debated moment started off pretty normal. A man pulled up to the drive-thru and casually placed an order, beginning with a standard breakfast item. No red flags yet. But then things escalated quickly.
Instead of stopping at one or two meals, he kept going. And going. And going. At one point, the employee on the other end of the speaker had to double-check what they were hearing, asking if the customer really meant to order 11 full breakfast meals. And just like that, what started as a routine order turned into something that clearly wasn’t so routine anymore.
Arkansas Man’s Large McDonald’s Order Shocks Drive-Thru Employee
To be fair, the man had a reason. He explained that he had a house full of 8 hungry kids waiting, which honestly makes the whole situation feel a lot more relatable. Feeding a crowd is no joke, and sometimes convenience wins. Still, the sheer size of the order seemed to catch the staff off guard.
The employee even gave him a heads-up that the order might take a while, which, let’s be honest, feels like the understatement of the year. We’re not talking about a couple extra hash browns; this was a full-on breakfast haul.
And then came the moment that really sent the internet into a spiral. Before finalizing the order, the employee paused and said they needed manager approval. The customer couldn’t help but laugh, clearly amused by the situation. But behind the scenes, it actually makes sense. Large orders like that can throw off the entire kitchen flow, especially in a drive-thru setting where speed is everything.
When you suddenly drop an $80+ order into the mix, it’s bound to raise a few eyebrows. As the employee counted out the items, their reaction said it all. You could practically feel the stress through the screen. Meanwhile, the total came out to just over $83, which is slightly terrifying when you think about it being all breakfast food.
Of course, once the video hit social media, the opinions came pouring in. Some people thought the whole thing was hilarious, especially the customer’s laid-back attitude. Others? Not so much. Critics argued that placing such a large order in the drive-thru is inconsiderate, especially if it slows things down for everyone else waiting in line.
The Internet Was Not On His Side
And honestly, both sides kind of have a point. On one hand, fast-food chains are built to serve customers, no matter the size of the order. On the other hand, there’s an unspoken rule about keeping the drive-thru moving. It’s that delicate balance between convenience and courtesy, and this situation landed right in the middle of it.
“This is so rude,” one person commented. “That’s more of a walk in purchase,” another added. “This ruined my day,” a third dramatic comment read. “You’re laughing….. the employees definitely are NOT!!!” a fourth person pointed out.
Some viewers even suggested alternatives, like ordering ahead, going inside, or using the app to avoid holding up the line. But the customer didn’t seem too worried about any of that. If anything, he was more concerned about making sure the order was right, joking about the chaos that would unfold if something was missing.
Maybe next time the Arkansas man will place an online order so that it’s ready to pick up by the time he heads to the drive-thru ready to pick up his food.
