A woman named Katrina was simply doing what so many Texas shoppers do on the weekend: browsing local thrift stores in hopes of finding something fun, quirky, or vintage. What she walked out with that day looked like a charm straight out of the 1970s, a big, cheerful piggy bank decorated with green, orange, and white flowers, complete with a cute curled tail and a smile that practically screamed groovy. But once she made it back to her car, the real surprise revealed itself.
In her TikTok, Katrina holds up the piggy bank and tells viewers, “I thrifted this piggy bank for $10.99 and listen.” She shakes it, and immediately the audience can hear something was rattling inside. At first, she figured it might be toys or plastic trinkets left behind by the original owner. Still, curiosity won out, and she pulled out the bottom plug to get a closer look.

Instead of toys, she found something bagged. Multiple plastic bags, to be exact, all knotted together. “I do know this piggy bank is worth a lot of money,” she joked as she tugged at the string of tied bags. But it was what those bags were hiding that left her stunned. Inside were several neatly rolled bundles of cash, each wrapped with elastic hair ties like mini time capsules of someone’s savings.
“No frickin’ way!” she exclaimed, visibly shaking as she held up the first roll. And the surprise wasn’t small by the time she counted everything, Katrina discovered more than $2,000 tucked away in the thrifted bank.
“I just thrifted a piggy bank for $10.99 and found $2,028 cash! [expletive] is this a prank or something?!?” she captioned her video, which instantly sparked a flood of intrigued, jealous, and downright bewildered comments. In a follow-up, she admitted she actually notified the thrift store about the money first. “I felt guilty,” she confessed, but ultimately decided to keep her lucky find.
