Sadly, racism is still an issue in the United States of America. There are countless clips online that show people being absolutely horrible to one another just because of the color of their skin. With that being said, this recently posted TikTok video is another one of those encounters. The clip has around 15K likes and 420K views as a Washington woman overhears a young child make a horribly racist remark while visiting a hotel.
The TikTok video would unfortunately start after the remark was already made. However, the woman would go over the recent encounter in the clip. She can then be heard saying, “I’m in the back of the ‘fancy’ hotel,” in a sarcastic voice. The Washington woman goes on to state that she allegedly heard a little girl say, “I can’t believe they allow black people in this fancy restaurant.” Hearing anyone say this would be an instant red flag, but a child? That’s incredibly alarming.
TikTok Reacts To Allegedly Racist Washington Child
The TikTok comment section would seemingly agree, as many users would hurry to leave behind their own thoughts on the matter. “Hatred is taught!” pointed out one commenter. Someone else wrote, “That’s disgusting, I’m sorry that happened to you.” A different person’s comment also read, “I’m in awe of the amount of comments saying this didn’t happen. I’m so sorry this happened.” Finally, one last person then stated, “Children repeat what they hear. Period!”
Sadly, the clip would come to an end following this. Nevertheless, the Washington woman would post a Part Two TikTok video, where she confronts the little girl’s family. In that clip, the woman can be seen walking up to the two other women as she explains what happened. As she does this, one of the other women seems to be in disbelief, but the second woman states that she actually heard the child say it. That woman also states that “We straightened her out,” regarding the young girl.
As the TikTok video comes to an end, it would seem that no real progress was made here. At the end of the day, that young girl had to have heard something like that somewhere. Kids typically don’t just say horrible things like that. Hopefully, this was a one-time thing, but hatred is, in fact, taught, and it can be very hard to unteach. Maybe this was just a strange thing that this kid said, but it really doesn’t seem that way.
