It’s a technician’s worst nightmare. An ordinary repair job is turning into something far more horrifying. In Utah, a repairman expecting a routine fix for a broken PS5 instead stumbled onto a scene straight out of a nightmare. At first glance, the console appeared dead from a supposed power surge. However, the true culprit was far more disturbing.
Upon opening the console, the Utah repairman, also known as @dvdgameexchangeutah on TikTok, was confronted with cockroaches crawling among the internal components. German roaches had not only made themselves at home but had left droppings scattered throughout the system.

Zooming in on the video he later shared online, he highlighted the mess. He emphasized the unsanitary and unsafe condition of the device. The infestation was so severe that he refused to attempt any repairs. Citing the obvious risk to both himself and his shop. One adult roach was spotted moving inside the ventilation system. It prompted the technician to slam the PS5 shut and tape it up to prevent contamination from spreading.
“It’s German roaches..the worse of the worse,” one follower writes.
“I would have a quarantine room if possible for opening new packages,” another adds.
“Please spray the surrounding area just in case something fell in your shop. That is crazzzzyy. I’d be so paranoid,” a third writes.
Frighteningly enough, it is common for cockroaches to infest electronics like PlayStations because they are attracted to the warmth, darkness, and secluded spaces they provide. The heat from the device creates a welcoming environment for them to nest and hide. And the vents provide easy access.
Public Reaction and Utah Repairman’s Concern
German roaches, in particular, are persistent and known for infesting difficult-to-reach places. Experts recommend keeping electronics elevated off the floor. Regular cleaning of surrounding areas, sealing cracks in homes, and storing devices in clean, dry environments.
Social media reactions ranged from disgust to humor. Some speculated the PS5 owner’s living space might be infested more broadly. Others joked about the console simply being an unfortunate roach sanctuary. For many, the incident served as a nasty reminder of the hidden hazards that can lurk inside everyday electronics. Especially when hygiene and cleanliness are overlooked.
What began as a routine repair in Utah quickly became a shocking illustration of how pests can invade even modern gaming devices. The lesson is clear. Keeping electronics and living spaces clean isn’t just about aesthetics. It’s also about preventing infestations that can destroy expensive equipment and pose health risks.
