Tipping culture has reached an all-time high in the United States of America. However, with that being said, just because you are expected to tip doesn’t mean you have to. Although that might lead to a heated exchange, like in this recently posted TikTok video with around 15K likes and 184K views. The clip shows an altercation between three Florida women after they seemingly refused to tip their waitress before leaving the restaurant where they ate at.
The TikTok starts off with the three women already outside of the establishment. The text on the screen also reads, “Unprofessional service at Dixie. Can we normalize NO Tip for rude service?” The woman recording can then be heard yelling, “Do you want me to put this online?” to the waitress who followed them outside. The other woman off-camera then explains that they were not happy with the service they had received, so they did not leave a tip. The Florida waitress then looks shocked as she states, “I was so nice to you.” Yet, the two women disagree as they tell her they felt very “Rushed” because of her.
TikTok Picks Sides Amid Florida Restaurant Altercation
The TikTok comment section also had a lot to say regarding this situation. Many would flood the video to leave behind their own thoughts on the matter. “Tipping is an option,” one pointed out. “She’s showing why she didn’t receive a tip,” said another. One commenter even stated, “I’m on the employees’ side.” Another person wrote, “So tired of these entitled servers.” Finally, one last person said, “Restaurants need to pay their employees a living wage. Raise prices and pay your employees, it’s that simple.” It would appear that the comments are a mixed bag of emotions for this one.
As the TikTok video continues, the Florida women claim that there was only one waitress who was nice to them during their meal. However, the other waitress did not want to hear any of that. She would then start giving them trouble for staying and “Chatting” the whole day.
Although the two Florida women were pretty calm throughout this altercation. However, they could have at least left a few dollars for the waitress’s time. On the other hand, she should not have followed them out of the restaurant. While tipping is optional, it is also just common courtesy after eating out at a restaurant. Hopefully, all of these women learned a valuable lesson from this encounter and went about their days.
