A woman in Mississippi recently made a discovery that has sent shockwaves through social media and grocery aisles alike. What was supposed to be a simple snack turned into a horrifying experience when she opened a can of Quaker Oats Oatmeal Raisin Cookies purchased from her local Walmart.

Instead of finding the sweet treats she expected, the cookies had decomposed into a tangled, webbed mass teeming with worms. According to the freaked-out woman’s TikTok, the incident took place in early January 2026.
She had purchased the cookies as part of a routine grocery trip, expecting nothing more than a tasty treat. But upon opening the cylindrical container, she found the contents unrecognizable and crawling with life. A sight that left her family both horrified and disgusted.
Mississippi Woman Loses Appetite Over Infested Quaker Oats
In her video, the Mississippi woman shows the strange, alien-like substance where the cookies had once been. Some of the larvae appeared to have created webbing inside the container, possibly preparing to turn into adult moths.
In an attempt to neutralize the infestation, the woman poured bleach into the container, causing a boiling reaction that further highlighted the severity of the contamination. Fortunately, neither she nor her family consumed the cookies.
The can’s “Best Before” date indicated March 19, 2027, meaning the cookies should have been safe to eat for more than a year, raising concerns about how such contamination occurred. While social media users speculated about the moth larvae being responsible, the origin of the infestation remains unclear, with no official statement from Walmart or Quaker Oats regarding the incident.
Health Risks
Finding worms in packaged food is more than just gross. It carries potential health risks. Ingesting contaminated products can lead to foodborne illnesses, allergic reactions, or parasitic infections. Experts recommend thoroughly inspecting canned or packaged goods before consumption.
Be sure to check expiration dates, ensuring seals are intact, and discarding any product showing signs of infestation. Washing hands and sanitizing surfaces after handling contaminated food is also essential to prevent accidental exposure.
“This a lawsuit as you’re forever traumatized and can never look at oatmeal again,” one follower writes.
“My skin is CRAWLING AND ITCHING OMGGG,” adds another.
“Those things are hell. Two years it took me to get rid of them!!! I’m so cautious of any food brought in my house now,” one more warns.
The social media post quickly went viral, with commenters expressing disbelief and disgust. Many compared the webbed mass to scenes from sci-fi shows, while others warned viewers to always inspect store-bought products carefully. Some suggested pursuing legal action, though the woman’s primary focus appeared to be sharing a cautionary tale with others.
