Food delivery is supposed to be convenient and plenty of people rely on apps like DoorDash to avoid cooking during busy weeknights. But one Indiana family is rethinking the convenience factor after a DoorDash driver allegedly pepper-sprayed their food before even ringing the doorbell. What should have been a simple dinner drop-off quickly turned into one of Indiana’s wildest delivery horror stories.
The ordeal happened in Evansville, Indiana, when TikTok user @itsyagirlleonna posted doorbell footage that has since blown up online. In the video, the DoorDash driver walks up to the customer’s home, places the bag down, and then pulls out a spray bottle. Instead of leaving like a normal, decent human being, she sprays the entire food bag before casually walking off. And no, she and the customer never even interacted.
At first, the video sparked speculation, debate, and a whole lot of “What in the world?” reactions. Some viewers assumed the spray was pepper spray; others feared something worse. The TikToker later posted an update and explained that “14 news is involved,” meaning the story got real attention fast.
Indiana DoorDasher Caught Pepper Spraying Food
But things took an even darker turn once the victims came forward. According to the local news report, the customer, Mark Cardin, brought the food inside without noticing anything unusual. His wife grabbed her meal and started eating first. Within seconds, literally, she began coughing, choking, and even vomiting. Mark, confused and alarmed, inspected the packaging and realized it looked tampered with. That’s when he pulled up the doorbell footage and saw the driver spraying something directly onto their order.
Mark originally feared it might be pepper spray, but he’s still worried it could’ve been something much more dangerous. Understandably, he wasted no time contacting DoorDash and the police. A report has since been filed, and officials are reportedly working on charges against the driver. Meanwhile, Mark’s wife has developed a serious infection, and doctors are monitoring her symptoms in case they worsen.
Why did the DoorDasher do it? The leading theory floating around social media: the tip. Some users suggested she may have been upset by a small tip or thought she didn’t get one at all. But Mark cleared that up quickly: she did get a tip.
Netizens Were Shocked
And here’s the thing: even if she hadn’t, retaliating with chemical spray on someone’s dinner is beyond unhinged. It’s dangerous, reckless, and criminal. This woman pulled the stunt in broad daylight, right in front of a doorbell camera, like she genuinely didn’t think she’d get caught.
“This made me so sad , like what if it’s a parent that needs to feed there child,” one person wrote in the comment section of the video. “This is why I ALWAYS meet at the door,” another stated. “She saw the camera and still did it,” a third person chimed in.
Thankfully, Mark had that footage, and the family now has solid evidence. With police reportedly moving forward, it looks like justice may be on the horizon. But for Indiana locals, and honestly, anyone who orders takeout, this situation is a major reminder to always check your food bags, and maybe peek at that doorbell cam once in a while.
