Kelly Osbourne Admits She ‘Fell Off the Wagon’ in Iowa Following Dad Ozzy’s Death: ‘I Couldn’t Handle It’

The past 14 months have been incredibly devastating for Kelly Osbourne. As she continues to mourn the heartbreaking loss of her father, Ozzy Osbourne, who passed away on July 22, 2025, she admits her personal life continues to be extremely chaotic.

During a recent appearance on the September 15 episode of Paul C. Brunson’s We Need To Talk podcast, Kelly opened up about her relapse in Iowa, her mental and physical health struggles, family conflict, and how she is working to rebuild her life.

The Day Kelly Osbourne’s Life Fell Apart

Kelly Osbourne continues to grieve the death of her father. It was the day she admits that changed her life forever, and one she will never get over. Star Magazine reports that the 41-year-old mother of one described herself during that time as “broken in every way a human being could possibly be broken.”

After more than four years sober, Osbourne revealed “I was at ground zero. I started drinking again,” she stated. “I lost my mind and couldn’t handle it. I don’t understand grief until you’ve really been through it,” Kelly told Brunson. “I’d lost people before that I truly loved, but nothing took me out like losing my dad.”

Kelly’s heartbreak and pain not only led to a relapse for the former reality star, but it also caused many changes to the relationships she held dear. Not only with her friends but with her closest family members as well.

Kelly Osbourne’s Life Will Never Be the Same Again

Kelly has accepted that she is not the same woman she was before Ozzy’s death. “I lost a lot of friends because people don’t like sadness and they expected me to be over it,” she said. “And I will never be over it. I will never ever be over it. I’ve said many times that the girl that I was before my father passed is dead,” she said. “That girl will never come back.”

As Osbourne continues to regain control of her life, she happily adds that she is currently 8 months sober. But while life continues to change, according to Reality Tea, Kelly is reportedly struggling to maintain a close relationship with her mother, Sharon Osbourne.

Inside sources allegedly claim that the mother-daughter duo is said to be drifting apart and is barely speaking. The source of their fallout is rumored to be their political differences. Kelly is described by friends as a big Leftie, while Sharon is reportedly a Trump fanatic. “They’ve also become very separate and very different people,” one insider shares.

Kelly has also recently relocated from her Iowa farm and has returned to the United Kingdom. This has placed plenty of distance between Kelly and her immediate family members. Another source added, “They’re worlds apart just now in every possible sense. She’s a long way away from Sharon and her brother Jack, both geographically and ideologically.”

Can Time and Distance Help Kelly Osbourne Heal?

Kelly says she is now eight months sober as she continues working through her grief and rebuilding her life. Fans are sad to hear that Sharon and Kelly are allegedly at odds.

One commenter writes, “Sad that Kelly is doing that to her mother. What happened to agree to disagree?”

For now, all fans can do is hope that the mother and daughter team of Sharon Osbourne and Kelly Osbourne can manage to work through their issues and reunite. Time will tell if the family can rebuild their former bond and move forward with their relationship.
