“A lot of people have been asking what project I’m doing next, this one releases in December,” she captioned the post as the song “You ain’t seen nothing yet” Bachman–Turner Overdrive plays in the background of the clip.

The Oscar-winner made headlines three years ago when at age 48 she gave birth to her twins Aya and Ohm. However, it seems that fans are even more surprised this time around.

The Internet Didn’t Hesitate To Share Praise and Criticism

Some fans were thrilled for the actress. “Congratulations to Hilary Swank. Hope everything goes well with mommy and baby,” one person wrote via X. “I’m so happy for her,” another said. However, others were skeptical about the decision to have a child at the age of 52.

“Seems wrong and selfish to me,” a third person commented. “She will be 70 with her baby graduates,” another chimed in. “So unfair for a child to have a senior age mom,” quipped another.

Swank Opens Up About Having Children Later In Life

Previously, Swank opened up to PEOPLE about having children later in her life. She admitted that it wasn’t because she didn’t want children earlier, it’s just the way that things worked out for her, and she’s loving every moment of it.

“It just worked out that I had babies this much later in life,” she said. “It wasn’t that I didn’t want them earlier. There were a lot of things that kept that from happening, and so I can really take time to be with them.”

“I feel like I have that more kind of ability to really give them my attention in a way that I wouldn’t have as much at that point because it would’ve been pulled between the two in a very distinct way,” Swank added. “In my career being so established, I have the ability to kind of step in and step out when I choose, and that is just such a blessing.”

Is Late In Life Pregnancy Dangerous?

There are several things to consider when it comes to pregnancy after age 35. According to The Mayo Clinic fertility generally declines with age, meaning it may take longer to conceive. The likelihood of having twins also increases with age, although fertility treatments can play a role, too.

The risks of developing gestational diabetes and high blood pressure also increase with age. The risk of premature birth, pregnancy loss, and chromosomal conditions are also higher in women over 35. Exercise, a healthy diet, and proper prenatal care are all crucial in having a healthy pregnancy later in life.

Hilary Swank has not publicly shared all the details of her current pregnancy, so it would be premature to draw conclusions about her individual health risks. For now, the actress appears excited about expanding her family, even as her announcement prompts debate about becoming a parent later in life.

Hollywood News Daily reached out to Swank’s representatives for comment but did not receive a response at the time of publication.
