After seeing the high ceilings, stunning black walnut staircase, dark wood, and beautiful lake-front view, fans were going wild over the mansion. “That house is SO Taylor Swift,” one wrote via X. “It looks so Evermore,” said another, referencing the singer’s beloved album.
Others were suspicious about the aura of the house. “Why [does] the interior look like The Haunting of Hill House?” a third person chimed in. “Probably includes a couple of ghosts,” another speculated. “This is creepy,” another tweet read. “Imagine all the fancy ghosts that haunt it,” a final fan commented.
Fans Theorize About Possibly Haunted Mansion
Turns out, the fans suspecting a spooky past might be onto something. The historic mansion actually operated as a speakeasy during Prohibition and even served as a filming location for CBS’s “Route 66” back in 1962, giving it a genuinely storied past to match its gothic appearance via WKYC.
In addition to its possible ghostly history, the $5.35 million home includes 8 bedrooms and 11 bathrooms inside its 21,140 square feet.
Beyond its Prohibition-era past, the mansion, designed by architect Jarvis Hunt, has passed through several notable owners over its 130-year history. It was originally built for Jay Collins Morse, a partner in the Pickands Mather & Co. mining company, and his wife.
The History Behind The House
In 1985, Kenneth and Christine Spano purchased the estate and lived there for 34 years, with Christine helping get the property officially registered on the Ohio Historic Inventory. Peter O’Neill, executive director of Cleveland Clinic Innovations, and his wife bought the home in 2019, preserving much of its historic interior. A construction group purchased the estate in 2023 and completed a yearlong restoration before Kelce bought it this past March.
