Farmers are the backbone of the United States as they feed most of the country. However, to do so, they require a lot of land, and sometimes big corporations approach those farmers to buy that land. Well, that is exactly what went down in this recently posted video on X. The clip is an interview with a family of Kentucky farmers who refuse to sell their land, even for $26 million. Social media users seemingly can’t believe what they are hearing as the story continues to make its rounds online.
The X (formerly Twitter) video starts off with a reporter talking to one of the Kentucky women. As they speak, the family’s livestock can be seen roaming around the field behind them. The woman then explains that if she has it “Her way,” she will continue to “Feed the nation,” and hold her land intact. The woman also shockingly states that “$26 million doesn’t mean anything.” A man can then be heard narrating over some footage of the woman walking her property as he explains that an A.I. company wants to build a data center on this woman’s land. However, this family is as stubborn as an ox, as they seemingly won’t budge on their decision to refuse.
Social Media Reacts To This Family of Stubborn Kentucky Farmers
The video’s comment section had a lot to say following this revelation. Many would rush to the clip in order to leave behind their own thoughts and opinions regarding the matter. “Some things, money can’t buy,” wrote one. Another asked, “Can you imagine turning down $26 million just to keep the cows mooing?” “I don’t comprehend why they can’t build fortified, bunkered data centers deep in the ground so as not to affect farm lands or forests above,” pointed out one more. Finally, one last person’s comment also read, “Good for them! Nice to see they value heritage over corporate greed.”
As the viral video continues, the Kentucky woman explains that this farm has been in her family for multiple generations, and she simply just can’t part with any part of it. She also tells the reporter that the land gives her purpose and even compares it to “Gone With The Wind.”
The Kentucky farmer’s mother then gets her time in the spotlight as they interview her as well. She tells the reporter that they do not need the money or the trouble that would come with selling their property. At the end of the day, that pretty much sums up this family’s entire mentality. There seems to be no way they will sell this land, and that’s their right. $26 million is a lot of money, life-changing money even. However, to this hard-working family, money just can not buy happiness.
