It was a spellbinding celebration in Salem, Massachusetts, over the weekend as Hocus Pocus star Larry Bagby known to fans as the mischievous bully “Ice” from the 1993 cult classic, tied the knot in a wedding that could have been plucked straight out of the Sanderson Sisters’ spellbook. The actor and musician, 51, married Veronique Dumont, 40, on October 5 in an intimate, movie-inspired ceremony that perfectly captured the spooky spirit of Salem in the fall.

The couple’s big day took place at The Pickering House, the oldest home in Salem, which also happens to be a filming location from the original Hocus Pocus. For Bagby, who first visited the historic 1660 property over three decades ago while shooting the film, returning to say “I do” felt like closing a magical full-circle moment. “It was the most magical moment of my entire existence,” Larry told PEOPLE. “It was a dream come true. I’m still speechless and taking it all in.”

Of course, a Salem, Massachusetts, wedding wouldn’t be complete without a touch of witchy flair. The ceremony, officiated by local legend Brian Sims, best known for his green witch persona BORAH! was described as “supernatural, sentimental, and spellbinding.” Though Sims left his green makeup at home for the day, he still infused the event with “magical chaos” and authentic Salem spirit.

Guests (around 25 in total) included several of Bagby’s former Hocus Pocus co-stars, like Jason Marsden (the voice of Thackery Binx), Vinessa Shaw (Allison), and Omri Katz (Max). Fans even got to tune in via Zoom as part of a special Hocus Pocus anniversary event celebrating the movie’s Halloween legacy in Salem.

The details of the wedding could make even the Sanderson Sisters jealous. There was a summoning of the witches, a giant pumpkin-man in a Jack Skellington tux designed by Danny Wicked, and plenty of hay bales, pumpkins, and gothic décor. Even the couple’s wedding rings arrived dramatically attached to “dead man’s toes,” a cheeky nod to one of the movie’s most iconic lines.

Adding to the nostalgia, Sims revealed that the ceremony featured a surprise black flame candle and a custom spell book by artist Chrissy Delima, which he used to read the couple’s vows. He joked that Larry was even “roasted for gazing at Vero’s ‘Yabos,’” keeping the humor and heart of Hocus Pocus alive throughout the night.

Ice is all grown up

The real magic of the evening, though, wasn’t the props or the pumpkin décor it was the couple’s love story, which is straight out of a modern fairy tale. Larry and Veronique met online through a Hocus Pocus fan group, where she commented that she had a childhood crush on his character, Ice. Intrigued, Larry reached out, and from that moment, sparks flew. Despite living in different countries, Larry in the U.S. and Veronique in Canada, they instantly connected and began a long-distance romance that defied borders.

Just a few months later, Larry proposed on Valentine’s Day 2023, proving that love much like a good spell, always finds its way. Now, the couple is blending their families and looking forward to their next chapter together. “We truly are soulmates,” Larry said.

From movie magic to real-life romance, Larry Bagby’s wedding in Salem, Massachusetts, was nothing short of enchanting a love story 30 years in the making, sealed with a kiss and a touch of Hocus Pocus charm.
