‘He Has Not Stepped Up’: Nicole Kidman Left With Huge Tennessee Burden Following Keith Urban Divorce

When a high-profile marriage ends, most people assume the hardest part is dividing the houses, the money, and the headlines. But in Tennessee, Nicole Kidman is reportedly dealing with something far more complicated and far more personal in the wake of her divorce from Keith Urban.

The Oscar-winning actress and the country music superstar officially ended their 19-year marriage earlier this year, and while most of their assets were reportedly divided without major fireworks, life on their Tennessee farm is a different story. Specifically, the animals, per Globe.

The former couple’s Nashville-area property isn’t just a glamorous Southern retreat. It’s home to a dog, several cats, chickens, alpacas, and even fish. According to an insider, the animals are currently being cared for by staff, but the responsibility ultimately rests with Nicole at least for now.

Nicole Kidman Left With A Farm Full Of Animals In Tennessee

“They have a huge menagerie of animals on the farm that are being looked after by the staff at the moment,” the insider shared. “Nicole has kept them all for now because it’s just not feasible for Keith to take them on — he doesn’t have the right setup. But it’s not the end of the conversation, it’s just been put on the back burner for now.”

From the outside, some might shrug and say, “They’re animals. Hire caretakers and move on.” But anyone who has ever loved a pet, let alone an entire farm full, knows it’s never that simple. These aren’t decorative lawn ornaments. They’re living, breathing creatures that require daily care, long-term planning, and serious commitment. And here’s where it gets complicated.

Nicole is reportedly considering a full-time move back to Australia. While that might sound like a dreamy homecoming, Australia has notoriously strict animal import laws. According to the insider, relocating the entire Tennessee crew overseas isn’t realistic.

“There are too many laws in Australia about bringing animals into the country. It’s going to be hard enough with the dogs and cats they have — shipping over alpacas and all the others is simply a no-go.”

Keith Urban Reportedly Hasn’t Been Helpful

Alpacas on a 20-hour flight? Not happening. Meanwhile, Keith is said to be staying in the area, which, logically, would make him the more convenient candidate to oversee the Tennessee farm situation. But per the source, that hasn’t materialized.

“But he has not stepped up and it’s all falling on Nicole’s shoulders, which is very unfair and leading to a lot of resentment,” the insider claims. “People might scoff at it as a minor issue but it’s not — these animals are very well loved.”

Nicole has long been known as an animal lover. Down in New South Wales, she owns a sprawling 111-acre farm that includes alpacas, chickens, and Black Angus cattle. She’s even reportedly helped bottle-feed baby lambs herself. This isn’t a celebrity casually posing with a goat for Instagram. She’s hands-on. But being hands-on from across the globe? That’s a logistical nightmare.

The emotional layer here is what makes this feel bigger than a typical post-divorce loose end. After nearly two decades of marriage and two daughters, Sunday Rose, 17, and Faith, 15, the split itself was already significant. Now, add in the reality of potentially leaving behind beloved animals in Tennessee, and you can understand why tensions might quietly build.

Nicole’s Allegedly Thinking About Moving Back To Australia

In Hollywood divorces, we hear about mansions and millions. Rarely do we talk about who gets the alpacas. Yet here we are.

If Nicole does make the permanent move back to Australia, decisions will have to be made soon. The Tennessee farm can’t exist in limbo forever. Whether that means Keith stepping up, a long-term caretaker arrangement, or some other compromise remains to be seen.

What’s clear is this: for Nicole Kidman, the end of her marriage didn’t just come with paperwork. It came with feeding schedules, barn logistics, and a whole lot of responsibility rooted firmly in Tennessee.
