According to the mom, he was “being a fool,” landing himself on a list of troublemakers that got handed over to the regular teacher. That list led to after-school detention and a major dose of frustration at home.
However, the real issue wasn’t the detention itself, it was her son’s total lack of accountability afterward. The Georgia mom said she asked him to write a sincere apology letter to the substitute teacher for making her day harder. She even required the teacher to sign it so she’d know it actually got done. Sounds fair, right? Well, two weeks went by, and there was still no letter.

That’s when things escalated. The mom told her son he had two days to follow through or she’d take away his bedroom door. “You have no right to privacy if you can’t be respectful,” she said. And honestly, that punishment, while strict, isn’t unheard of. Plenty of parents have tried the door removal method when teenagers start testing boundaries.
However, she wasn’t done there. When Thursday rolled around and the letter still wasn’t written, she decided to raise the stakes. If the apology wasn’t completed by Friday, she warned, the bathroom door would come off next. That’s the point where many online viewers collectively said, Hold up. Taking away a bedroom door might be a solid consequence, but a bathroom door? That’s a privacy nightmare waiting to happen.
Her husband reportedly tried to talk her out of it, but she stood firm, telling her son, “Play stupid games, get stupid prizes.” It’s a quote that fits the moment, even if the punishment might’ve gone a little too far for most people’s comfort.
