What started as a seemingly minor disagreement over a table at Aventura Mall’s freshly opened Eataly food hall escalated into a physical altercation that landed one Florida woman in serious legal trouble.
According to Aventura, Florida police, the incident happened just after 5 p.m. on Sunday. Lelia Trinchero, 44, of Coconut Grove, claimed she sat at what she believed was an empty table to eat and wait for her husband and son. Moments later, another woman approached and told Trinchero her family had already been sitting there.

From there, tensions quickly rose. As the woman began removing chairs from the table, Trinchero allegedly started yelling. The situation took a turn when the woman took the last chair, prompting Trinchero to slap her across the arm.
Florida Senior Steps In And Ends Up At Hospital
Police say the confrontation didn’t end there. The two women began struggling over the chair, and a 72-year-old man, part of the other woman’s group, stepped in to try to break things up. Authorities report that Trinchero then slapped the man across the face, causing him pain and dizziness. The injuries were significant enough to send him to the hospital, according to Local 10 News.
“Disgusting behavior. I have had two similar incidents happen to me. What is wrong with people? The sense of arrogance and entitlement is deplorable!” one commenter writes.
“What the heck is up with these people? Inexcusable, ” adds another.
Trinchero was arrested and charged with battery on a person 65 or older, a felony, as well as a misdemeanor battery charge. On Monday, a judge found probable cause for both charges and ordered that she be released on her own recognizance.
The Aventura Florida Mall’s new Eataly food hall had only recently opened its doors, aiming to be a lively culinary destination. Instead, it’s already making headlines for all the wrong reasons. What should have been a relaxed afternoon for shoppers turned into a chaotic scene, drawing police attention and ending with one person in the hospital.
