According to police, a Taco Bell employee in West Palm Beach, Florida is facing serious charges after a confrontation with customers reportedly spiraled out of control in a matter of moments. The incident unfolded just before noon on a Monday. What started as a simple request for a cup of water quickly took a turn that no one in the restaurant likely saw coming.
Investigators say three customers walked in and asked for water. At some point, one of them allegedly used that cup to get soda instead. It might sound like a small thing, but according to authorities, that’s when tensions began to rise. And then things escalated fast, per WPBF.

Witnesses say the employee, identified as D’Mari Patterson, became involved in a heated exchange with the group. Video from the scene reportedly shows him yelling during the altercation, with the situation becoming more aggressive by the second. But what happened next is what has people talking.
Police say the sound of a gun being racked can be heard in the video, followed by a chaotic moment where Patterson allegedly swung at one of the customers, and a shot was fired inside the restaurant.
At that point, the customers reportedly ran out of the building, likely trying to get as far away as possible. But according to investigators, the situation didn’t end there. Patterson is accused of following them outside and firing another shot, which missed the group but shattered a window nearby.
Thankfully, the injuries reported were described as minor. One person was grazed by a bullet, while others were treated for less serious injuries. Still, the fact that things reached that level over something so small has left people stunned.
