Shoppers at a Spirit Halloween in Plano, Texas, got more than just spooky animatronics and cheap candy scares Monday night. What started as a normal shopping trip quickly turned into a full-blown circus act. One that had customers screaming, phones filming, and employees wondering if they were suddenly working at a zoo instead of a costume shop.
Somewhere between the skeleton aisle and the fog machines, a small monkey. Yes, wearing a diaper, made a dramatic entrance that would’ve impressed even King Kong. The tiny escape artist had apparently slipped away from its owner and gone completely rogue, sending the store into panic mode.

Witnesses say the diapered daredevil dashed up displays, scaled columns, and swung from the rafters, having a great time. One customer even shouted, “Is that a real monkey?” while another confirmed, “It’s got a diaper on, so I guess it is!”
Store employee Jimmy Harris admitted the unexpected visitor was oddly entertaining. “People just stood there watching it for like thirty minutes,” he said, while kids tried to catch the runaway monkey. Chaos? Absolutely. But in true Texas fashion, it was also a full-blown spectacle.

The monkey’s big night of freedom came to an end after the owner managed to lure it back down, not with authority, but with a cookie. (Yes, a literal cookie was all it took to end the madness.)
Plano police arrived on the scene, confirming that the monkey was wearing a diaper, unharmed, and posed no danger. The primate was safely returned to its owner. No trick, just one very relieved Spirit Halloween manager.
Lisa Barr, Spirit Halloween’s VP of Marketing, praised staff and police for handling the bizarre incident with calm professionalism. “While this is certainly not a typical day at Spirit Halloween, we’re glad it ended on a positive note,” she said.
The Texas diaper-wearing monkey didn’t cause any serious harm. Just a night of chaos and a few viral videos that had social media laughing. And if you thought animatronic zombies were the scariest thing lurking in Spirit Halloween this year, think again.
