A California man is warning fellow shoppers after his order from the Valley Central Way Walmart allegedly included spoiled and moldy food, despite the expiration dates being years away. He was so furious that he took to social media to share a warning to other shoppers and reveal his angry thoughts on the matter.
In a TikTok video that has now caught plenty of attention, the California shopper displayed his grocery haul spread out across his kitchen counter. He pointed to bags of Tyson chicken breast strips and hash brown potato patties that were supposed to be good until October 2026. Instead of being fresh and freezer-ready, the food looked and smelled like it had been left out for far too long. Even worse, visible patches of mold had formed on the frozen items, making them impossible to eat.
The man explained that this wasn’t the first time he’d run into problems at that particular Walmart location. He claimed a package of hamburger patties he purchased earlier also turned out spoiled. According to him, this wasn’t just an isolated mistake; it was a pattern. “When these people are picking orders, they’re giving you the worst of the worst, the stuff that has been sitting on the shelves,” he alleged in the clip, calling it “nothing but a scam so they can sell old stuff.”
California Man Blasts Walmart For Selling Him Several Rotten Food Items
The video, captioned “Walmart scam,” zoomed in on the discolored clumps of food to prove his point. The hash browns appeared stuck together in strange greenish chunks, while the chicken had dark spots that definitely didn’t belong. Anyone watching could instantly tell something wasn’t right.
Viewers quickly weighed in with their own theories. Some suggested that Walmart employees may have been putting old, mishandled products into pickup orders because customers are less likely to inspect items until they’re already home. Others argued that the real issue could start with shoppers who leave frozen or refrigerated foods abandoned around the store. By the time employees find those items and return them to the freezer section, the damage is already done, even if the expiration dates still look fine.
Still, the California man insists that something shady is going on. His warning is simple: don’t trust that every frozen bag or box handed over in a Walmart pickup order is safe. Shoppers should double-check everything before pulling out of the parking lot, even if the expiration date looks years away.
The Internet Has Theories
“Walmart has found a way to sell their old products to us and not lose out on profits. Once again we as consumers are nothing but dollar signs to this corporate crime organization. This is not a coincidence, this is theft by intentionally selling old products that they would gamble on us not returning,” the video creator wrote in the caption.
For Walmart, this video is definitely bad publicity. Grocery pickup is supposed to be about convenience, not worrying whether your dinner is a science experiment waiting to happen. Until the company addresses concerns like these, California customers and likely shoppers everywhere will probably take extra time peeking into their bags before heading home.
