California Man Goes ‘Full Silence Of The Lambs’ With Shocking Human Skin Business Plan: ‘Please Tell Me You Are Not Eating That’

California man busted for selling human skin grafts

The world is a strange place, and many of its oddities are now reported online. Case in point, a California man was recently busted for attempting to sell stolen human skin online in the form of skin grafts, and it’s leaving the internet in shock.

According to the San Bernardino Sun, the California man got his hands on the human skin grafts by posing as a member of the medical staff at hospitals. He allegedly blended into the restricted areas of hospitals by pretending to be a nurse or surgical assistant and ended up stealing more than $300,000 worth of human skin as well as surgical instruments.

Naturally, the internet had thoughts on this one. One comment summed it up perfectly: “People are weirder than I ever expect.” Another person went full pop culture with “What in the Silence of the Lambs, Buffalo Bill is this about?” One person agreed, saying, “he went full Silence of the Lambs.” A fourth horrified Reddit user wrote, “Please tell me you are not eating that!”

California Man Busted For Dealing Stolen Skin Grafts Online

Now, police haven’t confirmed whether the stolen skin grafts themselves ever made it into his Facebook listings, but the fact that he even allegedly had them is disturbing enough. Selling human tissue is a big no-no under federal law. So, even if someone out there was in the market for secondhand skin, this “business” was never going to be legit.

Still, you have to wonder, why skin grafts? If you’re going to risk arrest by faking your way into hospitals, wouldn’t you target something easier to sell, such as Medical equipment, computers, even those super-expensive IV pumps? These things have resale markets. This feels less like a profit plan and more like a plot from a twisted Netflix true crime special.

The Internet Is Horrified

The whole scheme came crashing down once authorities caught wind of his suspicious Facebook sales and tracked them back to the hospitals’ missing inventory. Now, instead of living the dream as a black-market medical mogul, this California man is being detained and faces a very different future.

California has seen its share of bizarre crimes, but this one definitely earns a spot on the podium. And while the details might sound like something ripped straight from a horror movie, it’s a sobering reminder that there are people out there who will steal literally anything.
