An Uber driver in Minnesota was swarmed upon by a group of ICE agents while waiting for rides, and he stood his ground as a crowd gathered around him. As many know by know, the state was rocked by a shocking shooting, with an ICE officer killed an American woman in her car this week. Now, the unrest continues to grow, as the public refuses to comply with ICE amid protests across the country.
The clip, posted by @uberengineer26 starts off with the man, who clearly has a foreign accent, speaking with a female ICE agent. He questions her motives, refuses to give her an identification, and asks about her filming with a GoPro camera instead of a body cam.
Shortly after, other Minnesota ICE agents gather around him. One of them, goes toe to toe with the Uber driver, questioning his citizenship as a group of people can be seen gather around and filming in the background. “I can hear you don’t have the same accent as me,” the ICE agent says when asked why he’s questioning the driver’s American citizenship. “So you going by accents now?” he replies.
Minnesota Uber Driver Clashes With ICE In Unnerving Video
All of the officers wear items such as masks, hats, and sunglasses that help hide their faces. However, the man who appears to be the leader of the group finally approaches, laughing and making light of the situation.
When the driver finally asks if criminals have been working Uber, and is told yes, he says “Maybe criminals do ICE,” which had the internet loving his retort.
Of course, TikTok had a lot to say about the entire situation. “America is not a real country,” one person commented. “This is legit racism,” said another. “Never seen an ice agent walk up to a white person and ask them the same question,” a third comment read.
The Internet Was Rooting For The Driver
“They met the wrong dude,” a fourth social media user added. “Doesn’t Trump’s wife have an accent? Is she a US citizen?” another viewer revealed, making a great point.
It’s not just Minnesota, but all around the country. People are unhappy about the way ICE is handling situations and targeting people at their jobs, homes, etc. The unrest is growing by the day, and turning citizen against citizen. It’s scary, dangerous, and leaves many people feeling very uneasy.
