Arizona Woman Shares Urgent Warning After Disturbing Encounter at Her Front Door: ‘Felt Trapped in My Own Home’
A Glendale, Arizona woman warns everyone to think it over before answering the door, no matter who they claim to be. Even if they say they are the U.S Government. The TikToker shares that she recently experienced a rather unsettling encounter at her home. One that seemed very suspicious in more ways than one.
The woman says she and her family were taking care of some household chores. They had the music blasting as they worked. A normal day for her and her family. One that was quickly and rudely interrupted by a stranger ringing their front bell.
Family On High Alert After Stranger Rings Doorbell At Her Arizona Home
The woman begins to share her story by revealing that, first off, neither she nor her family members were expecting anyone and very rarely ever answer their door, especially for strangers. They ignored the bell and continued about their day. So instead of taking the hint, the person on the other side of the door continued to ring the bell multiple times.
The visitor was well aware he was being ignored, so he kicked things up a notch. Not only is the stranger annoyed, but so is the Arizona family. They decide to turn up the music even louder and continue to ignore the door. It still did not deter the stranger, and they became even more obnoxious with the doorbell ringing and knocking.
He knew he was being ignored, and the family continued to become agitated by the rudeness of the situation. It was seemingly clear they were sending a strong do-not-disturb signal. “I literally felt trapped in my own home,” the TikToker stated.
“Single parents be careful. Don’t open the door. Tell your kiddos not to open the door,” one follower suggests.
“I never respond to someone at my door unless they are expected,” another adds.
Strange Man Claims He is With the United States Government
The situation continues to escalate, and the man yells through the Arizona family’s front door that he can hear them inside. He also adds that he is with the United States Government, demanding that they open the door. Regardless, the woman still refused to open the door, saying she doesn’t care who it is.
The man continues to ring the bell for another ten minutes before finally leaving. By now, the woman says she and her family are really upset by the incident. The next day she claims she asked a neighborhood police officer about it and that the behavior was normal. He then told her it is absolutely not, adding that you never have to open your door.
So now the woman is sharing her experience and a public service announcement to her Arizona family, friends, and neighbors.
The Law And How To Protect Herself
According to Justia Ask a Lawyer in Arizona, it is your legal right to refuse to answer your door. This also includes, including strangers, salesmen, and any form of law enforcement who do not possess a warrant. Should you encounter a similar situation, anyone continuously knocking on or ringing your doorbell and/or falsely claiming to be a member of the U.S. Government is breaking multiple laws per SALG.
No worries, though, for those residing outside of Arizona. According to us_state_doorstep_laws.csv. The same laws protect all citizens across the United States. So if you ever feel like ignoring your doorbell, know that it is your right to do exactly so. These days, most seem to agree it is the wisest and the safest thing to do.
